Top Model: The Twins Can't Last Long Apart

First one twin went (Michelle, last week), then the other. Amanda really wanted it, but her awkwardness paired with a tough flamenco dancing competition meant that she was shown the door. Watch an exclusive video interview with Amanda!

This was a pretty Tyra-centric episode, what with the flashbacks to her runway days and her surprise appearance at the water photo shoot. Usually we're cool with Tyra, but this episode, she bugged. After Caridee had to be removed from the water because she was showing early signs of hypothermia, Tyra was all, "You need to tell us when you're having problems." Yet a few episodes back when Monique did just that after feeling sick, she got the boot! Is it any wonder that Caridee tried to soldier on?

It's nice to see a new friendship develop between Caridee and Eugena. We never thought these two hung out much, but they seem to be bonding, if through nothing else than a shared dislike of Melrose.

Without twin Michelle around to hang out with, Amanda seemed more nervous and unsure than ever. And Melrose has always made it clear that she's not in this for friends, so she never seems too affected by other dynamics and alliances.

With the top three each very different from one another, we're curious to see who will shine next week. Will supremely confident Melrose make it all the way? Will Caridee, who's always been strong, continue to take great shots? Or will Eugena, who's been criticized for flat eyes during her shoots but always wins challenges, win it all?

What do you think? Tell us!

OTH's Lucas and Haley: Rushed to the ER

The final scenes of this episode freaked us out. Two of our favorite characters, rushed to the hospital? We're sure Nathan never realized the possible impact of his involvement with Dante. Now Haley's in danger and Lucas isn't faring much better. We need to know they're okay!

In other OTH thoughts, we’re blown away by Dan’s seemingly magical transformation! True, the guy’s a murderer and all, but he’s really showing us his softer side this season. He’s making nice with Karen and Lucas and now he’s even willing to protect Nathan and take the blame for Dante’s death. And Nathan may have come to his senses, played his heart out, and helped the Ravens win the state championship, but he knew his dealings with the guy would come with a price. Now it looks like his wife and baby will pay that price. We’re wondering how he can live with himself as he sits in the hospital—waiting to see if they will survive. Has he taken up where is father left off? Dante said the kid had a soul but perhaps he was wrong.

And speaking of wrong—it seemed so wrong that Brooke and Peyton had dissolved their friendship. So their make-up really warms the heart, especially when Brooke gives the Lucas/Peyton coupling her blessing. Now if only Peyton could enjoy a little love without someone dropping dead!

Veronica Mars: What a Way to Wrap It Up!

We’re all atwitter after this episode of Veronica Mars, and we’re dying to talk about it. However, since we don’t know if life or work or other insignificant things like that got in the way of your vital television viewing last night, we’ll avoid revealing any of the important stuff until after the break. Now go watch TV!

Here’s the stuff we can share with the general public: Mac, Wallace, Piz, Parker and Weevil all get screen time! Heck, the only semi-regular folks we missed in this episode were Cliff the lawyer and Sheriff Lamb. It was good to see everyone on screen. We missed you guys!

Plus, everyone got to act like themselves. Mac was snarky and dismissive, Wallace was sneaky and supportive, Piz got to act like a freak for a good cause, Parker stood up for herself (and Veronica), and Weevil may have ended up in a whole mess of trouble, through no fault of his own.

Did your heart break a little when Logan broke up with Veronica? We think he’s right – they could go through bearable pain now, or agony later – but we still got sniffly. And the thing is, we’re siding with Logan on this one. Veronica just refused to let Logan in, to let him help her or care for her. He so wanted to, and she couldn’t let him. The ghastly “I’m fine!” smile she plastered on her face was starting to make our brains hurt, so we were almost glad when she finally allowed herself to break down in the shower. Both she and Logan have got some recovering to do. We’re almost glad Logan has someone to take his rage out on – but we don’t envy whoever has to mop up the cells.

So what did you think of the end to the first mystery arc? We have to admit, we loved it. It had all the things we love about Veronica Mars – detective work, moral dilemmas, danger, and snark. We suspected Mercer, but the master-and-servant aspect with him and Moe took us by surprise. Apparently, there was a reason the writers kept harkening back to that prisoners-and-guards experiment. Hell, they even made Moe’s obsession with serving people tea make sense!

We’re looking forward to the next mystery, too. Poor Dean O’Dell. He was a hard-ass, but we have to admit we liked him. Do you think it was suicide? Murder? Will Weevil be implicated? Was his death a part of someone’s “perfect murder” plan? So many things to look forward to!

When Did Smallville Turn Into Bigville?

Smallville
One more week until a new epi. We know it's hard. But your patience will be rewarded! We hear "Subterranean" will definitely continue the tradition of heart-stopping episodes so far this season.

But we were thinking. (Yes, we think! Oh, you're so funny haha.) Our kids certainly been growing up lately. Clark finally dealing with his destiny... Lana getting ready for motherhood... Lex becoming the evil man we came to know from the comics and the movies... and so on. To be honest, we sorta miss the kinder, gentler times when the only issues our characters had to deal with were the Freaks of the Week.

We sound like parents longing for the days when their children were young and innocent, don't we?

Do you miss the old days? Or do you like the more mature storylines? Which season or episode do you think was the turning point for the series? Or do you think it's still yet to come?

Luke, Lorelai, Christopher and The Philadelphia Story

Gilmore Girls
If you recall, at the end of Introducing Lorelai Planetarium Luke sits by April's hospital bedside thinking as he watches the 1940 film The Philadelphia Story. If you aren't familiar with the movie, find out why a timeless, 1940s movie might get Luke thinking. In the film, Katharine Hepburn's character must choose either her ex from the past, her fiancé from the present or the new man on the scene...

Let's speculate. At the end of the season, who do you think Lor will stick with? Sure, that whole 'til-death-to-us-part business she did with Chris makes things quite complicated... and she does love him. But will it last?

The CW Star of the Week: Melissa Peterman

Melissa Peterman
Birth name: Melissa Margaret Peterman

Where you can catch her: As Barbra Jean on the newly revived Reba, Sundays at 7/6c

Why we heart her: We love having Reba back, but we missed BJ even more! Her scenes are too hilarious, quite often bordering on the insane. We often find ourselves missing the rest of the scene because Peterman's comedic delivery has us in stiches!

Did you know? She's from Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated from Minnesota State University. She made her film debut as "Hooker #2" in the famous movie Fargo (which, by the way, we LOVED). In her spare time she writes plays and takes care of her 1-year old son, Riley David.

Now, a message from the fab lady herself!

Reasons to be Thankful: Supernatural

No new episode of Supernatural this week, but don't despair! We've got plenty of things for you to reflect on while you digest your turkey and stuffing. Here are our Supernatural reasons to be thankful:

#1. The Brothers Winchester. Remember how Family Dynamics came out on top in our Big Bad Bracket? That's because of the amazing relationship Sam and Dean have. And it doesn't just come out during the angst-heavy scenes. They really feel like brothers during the quiet moments. Just watch Sam give Dean a playful shove as they walk away at the end of "The Usual Suspects," or see Dean smirk at Sam's disappointment when they realize he's not in the FBI database. The only way their brotherly relationship could be more realistic is if they start screaming "Stop touching me! You're on my side of the seat!" as they're driving down the highway.

#2. Things that go bump in the night. We love the family dynamics, the brotherly interactions, the realistic portrayals of grief and emotional growth. But we have to admit, wheat first drew us to the show, and what keeps us coming back, is the promise of ghosties and ghoulies and all the other horrible, scary stuff that this show throws at us. We're amazed that a show on primetime broadcast television can be so consistently scary. Some of the moments that had us checking under the bed before we turned off the light - H. H. Holmes' ghost stalking Jo in the sewers in No Exit; the demonic faces appearing out of nowhere in "Crossroads Blues;" the knife-thrower's ghastly, unnatural smile in "Everybody Loves a Clown;" the ghost Claire trying to gurgle out a warning through her slit throat in "The Usual Suspects;" and lots more. The creepiness never gets old.

#3. Jensen Ackles. Okay, yeah, he's incredibly hot. We're fine with that. But we sometimes fear that those smoking-hot looks overshadow the fact that he's an incredible actor. Watch his face while the Crossroads Demon taunts him about his tasty pain, or as he's beating the hell out of the Metallicar in "Everybody Loves a Clown." You can see Dean falling apart, and that's all due to Ackles' skill as an actor. We don't know why he's not starring in movies or headlining Broadway dramas. He may be one of the most underappreciated actors out there right now. Plus, he seems like a genuinely humble guy; he recently told the National Ledger that he didn't think he'd get the chance to act in 10-Inch Heroes, his upcoming indie film. We hope he breaks big soon, but until he does, we're happy to have him on our show.

#4. Jared Padalecki. Again, we'll admit, Padalecki is all sorts of fun to look at. Plus, he apparently spent the break before season two building muscle and bathing in the fabled Fountain of Yowza! - hell, it almost looks like he got taller, and we didn't think that was possible. And again, we worry that some viewers may spend more time drooling over the body than looking at his work. Padalecki's portrayal of Sam has deepened and matured over the past season - just like Sam himself. Plus, Padalecki comes across as a real sweetheart when he's standing up for animal rights - check out his anti-fur ad for PETA.

#5. Supernatural fans. One of the perks of the job for us is that we and legitimately spend at least some of our working hours checking out Supernatural-related websites, and boy, are Supernatural fans a creative bunch! From videos on YouTube to Motivational Posters on Television Without Pity, the fan-created material knocks our socks off. With that in mind, we're planning on pointing you to some of the best fan art when there's no episode to sate our Supernatural hunger. First up, though: Sam's drunken letters to Stephen King on BBQ's fiction journal. It seems our Sammy doesn't like all the factual inaccuracies on the horrormeister's literary oeuvre. Start at the bottom and work your way up - they're loads of fun. Oh, just a warning - there are some naughty words sprinkled in a couple of the letters, so don't read them if you think you'll be offended.

Supernatural fans, what are you thankful for?

Reasons to be Thankful: Smallville

Smallville
Because there's no new episode this week, we figured we'd take a page out of Clark's book and talk about some of the things we're thankful for this season.

#1. Superman is growing up. Clark is finally realizing he has a destiny, and it encompasses the whole world, not just Smallville. He's discovering new powers and acknowledging his responsibility to serve and protect his adopted home. He's evolving into a real superhero. We're thrilled by that growth process, and we can't wait to see what comes next.

#2. New heroes emerge. Yes, we know, the show is called Smallville and it's about the young Superman, but we're loving meeting all the new heroes that are coming out of the shadows. Green Arrow, Flash, Cyborg, Martian Manhunter - we can't wait to see them get together in the beginnings of the Justice League. Plus, we've got a wish list of other DC-universe characters we'd love to see: Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern… The possibilities are endless.

#3. Compelling women. Yeah, we know, there's a war going on between the Chloe fans and the Lois fans. Forget that for now, and think about how cool it is that we've got such strong, resourceful (and yes, gorgeous)
women on our show. Think about Chloe and Lois as a crime-fighting duo - with Lois' martial arts moves and Chloe's smart, there wouldn't be a criminal left in all of Metropolis! Add in Lana's pregnancy storyline, and you've got a whole bunch of juicy material for the women of Smallville to play with.

#4. Hooray for the grown-ups! Smallville is full of relationships, and just about every pairing seems to have its fans and detractors. But for our money, the most compelling relationship on Smallville right now is the growing one between Lionel Luthor and Martha Kent. Will Martha's love redeem Lionel? Will Lionel draw Martha into his seedy world? Will Clark be scarred for life if he ever catches them making out? There are so many scenarios, and all of them make us giddy with anticipation. All hail the good ship Martha/Lionel! Long may it sail!

Are you as thankful as we are for these developments this season?

Time for Linkage and Other Business

Hey, all, it's kinda a slow news day with the Thanksgiving holiday week and everything. (Well, at least here in America. We know there are people all around the world who read this -- consider this your shout-out! We love you!) So, if you haven't already checked out some of our more interesting posts, here's a quick list:

*Veronica Mars: We honored the man who plays Keith Mars.

*Smallville: We recalled the magic that was Clana -- or the disaster, depending on who you asked.

*Gilmore Girls: Lor and Chris hitched -- how about that??

*Supernatural: Just when you think the show can't get any better, we get the "Crossroad Blues."

*One Tree Hill: The Team Peyton vs. Team Brooke battle continues.

*America's Next Top Model: We made fun of Fabio.

A while ago we asked you what suggestions you had for The CW. The response has been amazing. Keep 'em coming! However, now we have another item for your agenda. What suggestions do you have for us? What do you want us to write about in the future? What's on your CW Source wish list? We're a baby of a blog and could use all the help we can get!

The CW Star of the Week: Enrico Colantoni

Enrico Colantoni
Who is he? He's the heroine's father on Veronica Mars, airing Tuesdays at 9/8c

Why do you heart him? We've loved him since his days on the sitcom Just Shoot Me, which, by the way, we watched in spite of David Spade. Anyhoo, we like how he portrays such a caring father figure to Veronica despite his difficulties in solving his own crimes. We hear being a single father is no piece of cake, and Enrico wears the role well.

Some tidbits about the only 'rico who's suave to us: The Yale grad loves hockey which means, yes, he's Canadian! Haha. The Toronto Maple Leafs are his favorite team. Admittedly, we here at The Source are not so enamored with the sport, but we do appreciate his dedication to causes such as helping at-risk youth. Check out this site for more info on Inner City Arts, where Enrico teaches drama.

Smallville: Clark Continues to Evolve

Interesting episode. Clark is finally venturing out in to the big bad world to protect everyone, not just the denizens of Smallville and Metropolis. It's about time, Clark. We're glad to see you stretch your superhero muscles.

So what did you think of the mysterious figure who helped out Clark in Seattle? We've got a couple of guesses. Our first though, on seeing the red flash and glowing red eyes as he flew away, was that it was the android Red Tornado. But the half-eaten Oreos tell a different story: they're the trademark addiction of J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter. Either could be an interesting addition to the growing Justice League.

We admit we were surprised that Clark left Lex to fend for himself, but we're glad that Chloe, Jimmy and Lana stepped up. Apparently geek boys have their uses! We can totally see Jimmy obsessing over Ham radios as a kid. Nice job saving Lex, although he did prove he's not to be trifled with by stabbing the bad guy. Was that necessary to protect himself and Lana, or just Lex's bad side coming out?

Finally, what do you think of Lex's proposal? We can't help but think that marriage won't go well, but that may be influenced by our knowledge that comic book Lex was married eight times. Perhaps they should have pursued couples counseling instead?

Supernatural: Best Episode Yet?

We're nominating this as the best episode of the season – possibly the best of the series thus far. Great snark, great brother moments, scary monsters and demons, and all that payoff from the weeks and weeks of grief and angst. We're trying to find things to quibble about, and we're just not coming up with anything.

First off, how adorable was Sam when he got pouty that he wasn't in the FBI database? He so wants to be a bad-ass like his big brother, and no one is giving him any credit. We saw why when he made that nervous hop into the protective circle when the invisible Hellhound came a-callin'. Don't get us wrong, Dean probably would have done the same thing – and we would have been gibbering in terror – but Dean would have somehow made it look intentional.

And speaking of Dean – oh, the pain! He's finally had confirmation of what he's long suspected, and it's not pretty. That's why it almost hurts to see him lashing out at the people who had made a deal with the demon – you know he just wants to be shaking his father by the shoulders when he's yelling at Darrow and Evan.

We were struck that this is one of the first episodes where we've seen people actually willing to face the consequences that inevitably come from dealing with dark forces. Darrow didn't want to be saved – didn't think he deserved to be saved – because he'd not only willingly made a deal with the devil, but had exposed others to its evil. It's about time someone acknowledged that they'd made a stupid mistake.

The ending, where Sam told Dean that they were John's legacy, got us all misty-eyed. You got that right, Sam, and don't you forget it, Dean. John did a lot of stupid things, but at least he brought you into the world. Don't let that go to waste.

Finally – Oh, the previews for upcoming episodes! We're all aflutter. The boys kick some serious butt, Sam meets more demon-touched children, and we finally -- finally! -- learn what John told Dean. We like turkey as much as the next person, but we're willing to skip straight over Thanksgiving to get to the next episode. We can't wait! What'd you think?

A Letter to Lana

Dear Lana,

Hey, lady. How are things going? Well, we would congratulate you on your baby news, but it looks like you don't seem too happy about it. Or the state of your life in general lately.

We just want to let you know that we're here for you. Hopefully Lex will understand and support whatever decision you make regarding this unexpected turn of events. If not, you know deep down inside he's a tool anyway! Ugh, sorry, Lana. We just had to let that out. But in addition to - or without - Lex, you have a great network of friends in Smallville who are there to support you no matter what.

All that said, we hope you take charge as soon as possible. A wise man once said there's no crying in baseball, but you know what? Sometimes we don't think there should be crying in life either. We know it's not easy being you. But sometimes you have to take what comes your way and move on. We know you can be strong. Show us that you are once again.

Love,

The CW Source

And now, a trip down memory lane...

OTH: Does Peyton Need to Toughen Up?

Peyton’s been through a lot. She’s been shot at and attacked -- and that’s just the short list. She’s lost most of the people who she loves. But will the pity party ever end? The girl can’t even make it five minutes at school before having an embarrassing panic attack. Is Lucas right to keep babying her and rescuing her? Or should she stand up for herself like her brother suggests?

Plus, what'd everyone think of the Caridee crossover on OTH? Bet she didn't know that when she won the Top Model challenge she'd end up smooching Mouth!

So... They're Married.

So for those of you who didn't catch/refused to watch last night's Gilmore Girls, here's the scoop. In a completely out-of-character romp, Lorelai tied the knot with Christopher. Offscreen (okay, yes, it would've been painful to see it, but Gilmore writers, take a hint from Creative Writing 101: show, don't tell). In another country. Is she out of her mind? Did we mention that Rory doesn't know about this? And in the previews for upcoming eps, she seems pretty pissed. And what's this about Luke and Christopher getting into a fight? We think Luke would win in a heartbeat, but that's another post.

Rumors are flying that Chris and Lorelai's days of smooth sailing are about to come to an end. Dare we speculate that the marriage is a short-lived one?

Regardless, depending on how you feel about Chris/Lorelai, yesterday's ep was either joyous or ultimately depressing. Where do you stand?

Veronica Mars: What an Ending!

Holy crap! How’s that for an ending? Were you as freaked out by the last couple of scenes as we were? Our only quibble – Veronica knew she’d been drugged. She said as much in her voiceover – “I can’t believe this is happening to me again.” Why didn’t she stay in the food court, or call Piz or Taylor or someone she hadn’t pissed off lately? (Granted, that’s a short list, but there must have been someone….) Is she so disillusioned with everyone she knows that she couldn’t even call them when she desperately needed help? Veronica, we know you have trust issues, but come on!

And were we the only people who were getting kind of tired of Veronica monopolizing the moral high ground? Yes, granted, it’s a bad idea to take up with a married woman, but did she have to rub Keith’s nose in the fact that she thought he was a bad, bad man? Or was it just that she’d put him on such a high pedestal for so long that she couldn’t stand that thought that he’d have any moral failings? He had been her rock for as long as she could remember, and now she has to admit that he’s not perfect. That part of becoming an adult sucks.

As for Logan … yes, he should have tried to help out in the hotel fire, but couldn’t Veronica at least try to understand the panic he must have been feeling? She can’t possibly have been putting Logan on a pedestal since she’s been sort of sneering at him the whole time they’ve been dating. Or are we letting our Logan sympathies show? We have to admit, he cemented our love for him when he came to Veronica’s rescue even when he thought she was cheating on him with Piz.

We’re glad Veronica’s finally learning that everything’s not black and white – although you would have thought she’d figured that out in season one. Her prof can be a horndog, but still want to be a good professor. The Dean can be an upright and decent man, but still have a gambling jones. Keith can stumble and fall, but he’s still her father and he’s still a decent guy. And Logan can be the same screwed up, morally suspect, wounded creature he’s always been, and still be there when Veronica needs him. Will Veronica let him?
