Supernatural Podcast: "Salvation"

Listen Now

It's the penultimate episode of Season 1 of Supernatural and once again, we loved Salvation. Massive tension, big baddies, action and angst, and one of the most perfect "previously on" music montages ever set to film. Rock on!

John Winchester doesn't care what you think about him. So there!

The Winchester men are finally banding together to take down the evil demon who killed Mary, and it looks like they've got him cornered. John worked out a pattern that shows where the demon will appear next -- and they'll be waiting for him. Unfortunately, Meg is back, and she's slicing her way though everyone who's ever so much as talked to a Winchester. So once again, the family splits up -- Sam and Dean stay to try to take out the demon, while John goes off to Nebraska to try to fool Meg with a fake Colt. What could go wrong?

Everything, of course -- but that's what makes this episode so unutterably kick-ass. Mia and I debate John's preparation skills (and have some handy hints for other Hunters), voice our appreciation for eeeeeeevil Meg, and ponder the three most frustrating (and exciting) words on television -- "To Be Continued."

LOVING the podcasts. RE: Salvation:
I agree about the scene where John asks "why didn't you call?" and Dean says "Sam called when I was dying...". But, it's not like John didn't know about Sam's powers! He found out about them in the episode Home. From Missouri. When he was sitting on the couch in the other room! I'll never forgive John for that comment. (or the snark about the Impala being dirty).

I finally got a chance to listen. Great pod-cast and John... oh he's a ball of fun to talk about=p

Great podcasts ladies!
Oh, no podcast season 2, that's sad.
Sarah do you mean that one-line demon guy or who should look like Castiel in this episode, I'm confused. That one-line guy certainly looks nothing like Misha.

Alas, Jackie got another job, so she can't join us as easily as she used to. We're going to try to make sure she's with us for the finale podcast, but it all depends on factors beyond our control. Trust me -- we miss her too!

As for podcasting Season 2, we just don't have the time to do it now (see above re: jobs and factors beyond our control.) However, in all likelihood we'll try to do a season-two podcast over the summer, when we're have nothing else to talk about!

I'm glad you're all liking the podcasts -- we love doing them!

Great podcast, ladies! I agree....please continue on with season 2 :)
Jill, I'm kind of unsure about why the Colt didn't kill the demon, also. As I recall, it actually dissiapated, right? Which means it wasn't possessing a corporeal body. Which kind of contradicts everything else we've learned about demons. As much as I love this show, it sometimes makes my head hurt. When that happens, I just stick my fingers in my ears and go "la la la" and just watch the pretty.
And to second Britt's question, what DID happen to Jackie? If it was explained earlier, I missed it, too. Sarah and Mia do a great job by themselves, but I do miss Jackie's presence and input.

As far as the Colt goes - I think what happened was that Sam got distracted by Dean attempting to keep him away from the house and when he shot at the demon, it had time to recognise the gun and vanish, or depossess whoever it was possessing. (I don't know if the demon can take corporeal form on its own - it always seems to be possessing someone else.) We've never seen any other example of the Colt not working on a demon, and considering what all happens in season 2, well...

Another theory is that Sam did hit it, but not in a place where it would be lethal - we see later that shooting a demon-possessed human in a place other than the heart or head doesn't seem to kill it, right? So maybe he hit the arm or something.

I have to say, Sarah, it's really weird watching season 1 and 2 knowing everything i know now. It's odd how everything truly does tir together.

And, omigoodness, Mia.... her line about hoe Dean would sacrafice hinmself for his family but if they did it to him, not gonna fly? it was soooo on the mark and it's really cool to hear someone podcasting who doesn't know what's going to happen in future episodes. I almost wish i didn't know because watching all those episodes for the first time and getting all those shocks was awesome.

I really hope you guys continue podcasting season 2 even after you finish this season because i look forward to fridays (well, now thursdays) to hear this podcast before i go out. And now Thursday is double-whammy Supernatural day. :)

anyway, there's only one more episode in season 1 and i don't want you guys to stop there. And Mia, you really have to watch the rest of the seasons, but you can't skip because you'll have no idea what's going on. sseason two was really important for plot development.

And don't worry about podcasting supernatural season two before one tree hill season two because, trust me, i've seen them both, and supernatural season 2 is waaaaay better. oth season two? yeah, it pretty much sucks.

one more question: what happened to jackie? maybe you guys already explained it, but i'm just wodering why she stopped podcasting supernatural.

Anyway, PLEASE CONTIONUE PODCASTING!!! :)
