One Tree Hill: Romance! First Kisses! Jamie Rapping!

*Lucas and Peyton's attempts at parenting were hilarious in this episode. We loved seeing them go from overwhelmed to excited and back again -- often in the same five-minute time period.*Brooke and Julian, sitting in a tree... okay, we couldn't resist a little good-natured teasing, a la Sam. But seriously, these two are hot together -- they're just sizzling! And the buildup was almost as hot as the inevitable kiss!
*Forget Mia -- Nathan and Chase are developing a serious bromance. Between bonding over karaoke and basketball, these two seem to have a lot in common!*Jamie and his bud rapping. Yeah, the song wasn't exactly kid-appropriate, but we're willing to cut him a little slack if we get scenes like this! Those two are quite the break dancers.
*Oh, and we have to add that we really liked Julian's classy response to finding out Peyton was pregnant. Week after week, he's proving himself to be a pretty cool guy.
Now, let's get to the recap!
What's up with Peyton: She's a little freaked out about being pregnant. Will she and Lucas be good parents?
What's up with Mia and Chase: Chase asks her out awkwardly (and cutely) in the sound studio. It's a date! Mia freaks out to Haley, who suggests a double date with her and Nathan to make it a little less stressful.
What's up with Nathan and Haley: Nathan's back in town for the weekend, and he and Haley are looking forward to some quality time. She tells him they're heading out on the town with Mia and Chase. Lucas and Peyton can watch Jamie.
What's up with Lucas: Haley shows up and congratulates him on the pregnancy (remember, Peyton slipped and told her last week). Lucas can't believe the cat's out of the bag! Haley manages to turn this into a babysitting request, so Lucas and Peyton agree to watch Jamie and Q's brother while Nathan and Haley go out on the town, figuring it'll give them some firsthand parenting experience. But the little boys aren't as excited about Mousetrap and macaroni crafts as Lucas thought... and it doesn't help that they're wound up and on a serious sugar high!
What's up with Millie: She tries to get through to Mouth, but he's not interested in talking. So she goes to Brooke and confesses that she slept with Owen. Brooke's initial reaction is shock and anger, but she quickly gets over it and comforts Millie.
What's up with Brooke: She has a lot going on! She has a "business" meeting with Julian, but she thinks (hopes!) it might be a date. She's also dealing with Sam, who cannot keep a secret. When Peyton comes over, Sam blurts out that Julian's into Brooke, but the real secret is Peyton's news -- she tells Brooke she's pregnant. Brooke gets teary, but it's not what you think -- she's been working on Peyton's wedding dress, but it's going to need some revisions now that Peyton will be a pregnant bride. It has a corset! Seriously, though, Brooke's really happy for her friend, and they share a sweet hug.
What's up with Mouth: He's sulking about the Millie/Owen thing. Brooke comes over and tells him if he really loves Millie, they'll get past this, but Mouth isn't so sure.
How does it all wrap up?Nathan and Haley arrive at the club, and Chase is working the bar. It's a busy night, so he has to work during part of the date. Is it just us, or does he spend more time with Nathan than Mia? Chase and Nathan have fun shooting hoops, comparing notes about having a significant other on tour (we appreciated the Chris Keller shoutout), and later, Haley surprises them by signing them up for an impromptu karaoke session. The guys rap their way through "Bust a Move..."
...while back at Casa Lucas and Peyton, the boys rap the same song, complete with over-the-top breakdancing moves! But Lucas and Peyton are exhausted from running around after the boys. Peyton sends Lucas out to buy ice cream (pregnancy cravings), and when he returns, he has more than just ice cream -- he's got walkie talkies! The boys are entranced and immediately take off to play with their new toys. Soon after, Lucas and Peyton doze off, and when Nathan and Haley come to pick the boys up, it's Jamie who answers the door! Looks like he had more energy than his aunt and uncle.
Brooke is ready for Julian's arrival -- she's wearing a supertight/supershort top and skirt, the lights are low, and she has drinks chilling. But Julian seems to be all business. He enters while on the phone with his agent, and he's carrying stacks of papers. Still, there's hope -- he brought wine. He and Brooke settle in for a drink.
Meanwhile, Sam's hanging with her pal Jack Daniels. He's understandably shaken up -- his brother's a murderer and an attacker, but he was the only family he had. Now where's Jack going to end up? Sam tries to assure him that things are going to be okay, and anywhere will be better than being with his evil brother, but Jack still isn't so sure.
Millie bursts into Mouth's place, and she's drunk. She tells him if he wants sex with her, he can have it -- as much as he wants. And then... she runs into the bathroom to puke. So much for a hot night between the sheets! The next morning, Mouth brings her water and they talk, but it looks like a reconciliation is not in the cards. Millie mentions that there's a job opportunity in New York, and Mouth says she should take it. This couple seems to be over for good... or are they?
Brooke and Julian have some nice conversation while sipping their wine. They have a surprising amount in common -- both have powerful parents that are always disappointed in them, and according to Julian, they were similar in high school, based on what he read in Lucas's book. There's definitely chemistry in the air and things are feeling romantic, but then Julian says he should go, and it's been nice. "What exactly... was this?" Brooke asks him. There's some hemming and hawing between the two of them -- well, they couldn't date! It'd be weird! Think of it -- between his history with Peyton and the fact that they're working together, it would be wrong. Then their eyes meet, and it happens -- they kiss! It's a passionate kiss. We're excited for this couple; they seem to have major potential.
Mia and Chase's date comes to an end, and he awkwardly hugs her. Then he relies on the sound system once again to ask her out again -- and tell her that he realizes he should have kissed her. She agrees. He runs back to her and they, too, share a passionate first kiss.
What did you think of the episode? Which new couple is hotter? Are Mouth and Millie really over, or will they make it work eventually? Let us know what you think in the comments!

Laura, i think the reason it didn't work out with owen was because he didn't understand what being a mom meant to her, and he didn't really care about sam. but clearly julian does care about sam, and he has no problem with the fact that brooke's a "mom."

ive never been happy with a brooke coupling since brucas
but if i cant have brucas i think brooke and julian are a heck of a replacement
im loving them together
im also liking the chase/nathan thing but im not that into chace/mia thing isnt he too old for her?

Cute episode. And relatively drama free, excluding all the mouth/millie...stuff. (he needs to get over it. I mean its his choice to dump her or trust her again, but he is acting like her virginity was HIS. Not right. I think hes being really stupid.)
I liked the babysitting scenes, even though they were a bit on the cheesy side. But i am a sucker for anything Leyton related!!!
Brooke and Julian are good together i think...but, as hard as i try to like him...he still sends off creepy vibes to me..Maybe thats just me. What ev. If Brooke is happy, so am i.
...and I wonder why Haley hasn't been getting as much attention in the storyline department lately...Kinda miss that. Seems like shes too talented an actress to waste on only the matronly/friend-everyone-goes-to-with-problems character.

hey soccer, i totally know what you're talking about when you say brooke is not truly ok with leyton. i mean, i'm a die hard leyton fan, and i'm sure brooke is very happy for two of her best friends, but probably seeing them makes her think of how much it hurt her. so yes, i totally understand those feelings never fully going away, but brooke is so strong and does such a good job being happy for them.
as for the rest of the episode, i LOVED it all. i loved the walkie talkie scene at the end. definitely my favorite in a long time!! loved leyton and naley of course, and mia and chase and brulian!!! so hot!
the rapping and dancing by the boys and the men was so great!!
i thoroughly enjoyed the entire episode, but didn't really care for mouth/millie scenes, since i don't really care for mouth! (i totally agree with you guys on this :)
i think cmm did an amazing job with this episode, and i hope the rest of the season is close to this good!!!

Does anyone else think it's weird that even though Brooke spent the better part of the last two seasons talking about how much she wanted a baby the writers had her character say that she can't believe anyone has kids? Yes, I know that her mom sucks and all but doesn't that contradict everything she's been saying for 2 years? Just wondering. Oh and also, she told Owen that she didn't want a relationship because Sam had to be her priority yet she seems to be really into a thing with Julian. I don't have anything against Brooke, in actuality she is my favorite character. Anyone else notice the inconsistencies?

It wasn't a bad episode.
I enjoyed the Millie/Mouth story the best because it reminded me of old school OTH.
Best line of the night was Brooke's (obviously talking from experience about her feelings on Lucas and Peyton) - We may say we're OK with it, but on some level, we NEVER really ARE.
Here's your cue people: Enter annoying LP fans telling me "no, it's over. She's TOTALLY OK with it! She loves Lucas and Peyton."

After reading part of the recap, I knew Jackie wrote it!! I love how much she likes the show.
I appreciated that Brooke got to be mad at Millie for a second, but then got over it. LOVED that she vistied Mouth and talked/comforted him, plus she got to throw a dart at Owen. HATED that Mouth seemed to think Millie's virginity was his own.
But, the Brooke/Mouth friendship has always been one of my favorites from the show.
CMM did a good job with the episode.

This was a FANTASTIC episode. Chad did a great job directing, and all of the acting was on point. The Mouth and Millie stuff is a bit annoying, but I feel for Mouth. Everybody got screen time, and that is great. I loved everything Naley, and love that the writers are actually giving them storlines without a crazy nanny.
Mia and Chase are adorable together, and Brooke and Julian are amazing. I'm surprised how much Julian has actually grown on me from his first appearance.
I can't tell you how much I've missed scenes like the Karaoke one. I mean it's painful to watch Nathan/James dance, but it's like the sun, you want to look away but you can't. But he is a adorable so it's fun to watch. And I really loved when Chase said something like she is so hot, and Nathan said something about her being his wife. LOVED IT!
Lucas and Peyton were fun to watch, and I loved the Naley/Leyton interaction. Haven't gotten that in a long time, and missed it.
Really a fun episode, and the promo for next week looks great. Nathan playing again, Brulian heating up(LOL as Sam walking in), and the movie moving forward. So excited! OTH keeps bringing the heat and I'm loving it. :-)

I already mentioned this on the interview with CMM .. but I really thought this was a fun, good episode. And this is a compliment, I forgot that CMM was the director while watching.. it went really well and there was no shortage of Lucas in the episode, so kudos to him for having it all come together so well.
And the whole "Bust A Move" sequence ... so great!!!!
