90210 Recap: Help Me, Rhonda

Eesh, last night's 90210 put us through a whirlwind of emotions. We've got Adrianna telling Ty about her pregnancy, Dixon and Silver dealing with their breakup and Ethan going down a shame spiral after his car crash with a fellow student. We're pretty happy with the way things turned out, although we can sense some trouble brewing for Ethan and Annie. Also, this episode was obviously brought to you by Dr. Pepper. I found it a bit distracting - but maybe I was just thirsty. Before we get to that - let's start from the beginning shall we?

Adrianna getting her belly and baby checked

Last episode's cliffhanger left us worried that Ethan was hurt badly while driving and speaking to Annie at the same time. This episode starts with the Wilson family (Annie still in her pajamas) rushing into the hospital to find a frazzled Ethan. He wasn't hurt, just bruised, but the girl he hit punctured her lung and had to have surgery. Riddled with guilt, Ethan tried to think of what he could do or say to make her feel better once she was out of surgery and resting. When she wakes up, he apologizes and things go fine until he asks what school the girl, Rhonda, goes to. She tells him they are in the same French class. Oops! There's that bubble again! She tells him to leave and accuses him of not hanging out with or being aware of people who aren't on the ballot for Homecoming Queen or on a varsity sport but hello - Annie is a theater geek and Silver isn't running for Homecoming Queen any time soon. Sorry, had to get that out there, it bugged me.

Adrianna and Naomi are hanging out at the theater party and Naomi uses her flared nostrils to nudge Adrianna into Ty's direction so she can inform him of the little theater fetus growing inside of her. He is shocked by the news and admits later to not handling the news particularly well. When they meet at the Peach Pit the following day, Ty has a new attitude and vows to help Adrianna however he can. He's all smiles and gorgeousness and tells her that he spoke to his parents and they want to help and have her and her mom over for dinner to discuss things. It's all great except that Adrianna feels like she can't tell her mom about the pregnancy.

Dixon and Navid are lamenting their girl problems to each other and decide the best way to get over a girl is to get under another one. Hardy har har boys. Luckily, Christina tells them to follow her advice from now on - not each other's - and invites them to a party with a hot band and hot girls. They are all too willing to go and Navid ends up charming a girl with his love of World of Warcraft and dorkiness. We're happy for the two of them. Silver finds Dixon and flips out on him - later professing to "(not be able) to handle this being in love stuff". All is right with the world again. The two kiss and hug it out and our favorite couple takes their throne again.

Annie has been wrapped up in the play and is annoying us once again. Seriously, can't she do anything other than whine and bitch and moan about not getting everything she wants? Is it just us? Even Ethan gets annoyed with her inability to think about things other than theater. He's been spending a lot of time with Rhonda and has devoted himself to going outside his comfort zone to try new things and carpe diem. He and Rhonda make a pact to pursue the things in life they've always wanted to try but have always put off. Of course, we find out in the end that little miss Rhonda has been using her hospital stay as a way to get closer to Ethan. Can you blame her? She's gone from totally geek, to totally chic (lovers of 80's movies, you'll appreciate that one). In turn, this has put a bit of a wedge in his relationship with Annie. Ethan's eyes have been opened to trying new things while Annie wants the world to revolve around her. We'll see where this all goes.

Back in baby land, Ty's family has welcomed Adrianna with open arms and insist on paying for her doctors visits and a spa facility for pregnant women/underage girls. Once she's had the baby they've got everything planned out for putting the baby up for adoption. This is all very convenient for them, no one thought to ask Adrianna what she wanted to do. Still, the Collins family has been so nice to her, Adrianna doesn't think to question them even when they hand her a contract for her to sign to give up the rights to ever talk about the pregnancy. Luckily, she's got Naomi, who makes a better baby daddy than Ty any day. She convinces Adrianna to actually take a look at what she's expected to sign.

Ty lets his mother know Adrianna has some questions about the contract and instead of getting back in touch with her, Mrs. Collins shows up at Adrianna's house to speak to her mother. Oopsie! They step inside and Adrianna's mom, Constance, is taken a bit by surprise. She finds out in the middle of the conversation that her daughter is pregnant and listens to Mrs. Collins bully her daughter. Constance shocks us all by totally stepping up and being a good parent. She tells that bitch to get out of her house and leave her daughter alone. After all, what to do with the baby is Adrianna's decision and no one else's. She deserves a slow clap for that one. Mrs. Collins leaves and Constance has some stuff to think about. Later, we're relieved to find that she is incredibly supportive of Adrianna and is going to be there for her and the baby. Also, she understands why Adrianna didn't tell her in the first place, which is a harsh realization.

The next day at school, Ty accuses Adrianna of trying to ruin his life, but of course doesn't think about what he has asked Adrianna to do. She doesn't give in to him and instead, asks Navid to do her a small favor. The TVs in the halls of West Beverly turn on and Adrianna lets everyone know she's pregnant. To Ty's relief, she tells everyone there is no father, "it was immaculate conception". Somehow we can't help but think the truth with come out.

What did you think of last night's episode? Are you as over Annie as we are? Do you think something will happen between Rhonda and Ethan? Will Dixon and Silver last? Let us know in the comments!

Would you please please please do a 90210 podcast? I would love that!

Yes, I agree - Adrianna is the star of the show. Annie just bugs. Shanae Grimes can act, you're right SimpleThings, they just don't give her anywhere to go but to the pity party. Dixon and Annie fit in almost too quickly. Now it's like, "Kansas? What's Kansas? Oh yeah! We used to live there!"

DeeDee, couldn't agree more. Dan and Serena on GG though - they need to stick a fork in it. I agree there is a LOT to snark on with 90210.

My buddy told me this show involved WOW for some reason so it gave me a reason to watch it. I find it entertaining.

I love how Adrianna's dealing with this pregnancy! When she came right out and told the entire school, THAT WAS AWESOME!Go Adrianna! Personally, I think that turned Navid on a little bit. SCREW YOU NIKA!! SAY BE BYE BITCH! Navid has more important matters *cough cough* Adrianna and baby *cough cough* to worry about

Finally a good episode of 90210!
As a fan of the original series I tried to like the new one but so far that has been a pretty diffucult task.....until last night!
Clearly Adrianna is the lead of the show, she has the best storylines and gives back an awesome performance every time. Elsewhere SIlver is ok, believable besides being gorgeous. I think the male characters should get any depth, i mean....who is Ethan besides Annie's BF? Know what i mean?
Having a little bit of a situation with Annie though, the girl can act and that's a fact, but she's not getting any good stories, she should be the girl the audience relates to, the one that makes mistakes, that learns....i mean, something HAS to be done with her, the way they did with Brenda back in the day, I was always on Brenda's side, i could feel her pain, her joy, i totally felt her....and i think who's behind this new-90210 should go back and see why the original episodes worked so well, remember Brenda's breast cancer scare?

Really loved the whole Adrianna-ahead-of-gossip scene, totally 80s, that final slow-mo walk!!!!
That's the path the new show should follow!!!!!!

-On Annie: Been over since the start. Easily the worse part of the show and I'm glad the writers are starting to scale back her screen time (sorry Annie fans)

-On Rhonda and Ethan: Knowing this show, they probably would go there and can't say I'm too mad. Rhonda makes Ethan more likable. Hell, Naomi and Ethan were a better pairing than Annie and Ethan. So over those two and can't wait until their (hopefully) inevitable break up.

-On Dixon and Silver: I used to love them and then I started to dislike them but now I like them again. Here's hoping they can survive the second go-round. I can't take this D/S acting like another certain D/S who are intent on breaking my heart (GG fans know I'm talking about).

-Overall: Really solid episode and I can see the show is improving. Looking forward to next week. Sucks you guys can't podcast this show because I would love to hear your thoughts -- there's so much material to snark on:P
