One Tree Hill: "Really? You're going to make this about you?"

Nathan losing his job
Who It's About
Nathan and Haley. How much would it suck to go from a potential multi-million dollar contract to unemployed -- and to learn about it from a TV sportscast? And now whatever job he gets -- if he gets one at all -- will be much farther from home.
Clay. His only client just lost his job -- which means Clay screwed up big-time and pissed off said only client. Oops. His motives were pure, but the outcome was not so good.
Who It's Not About
Quinn. She insists that Nate fired Clay because of her, but... come on, girl. Did you get the bit above about him losing his job and any other job being not so great? Get over yourself!
Clay getting fired
Who it's About
Clay -- since he's, you know, fired. That's gotta suck.
Who it's not about
Quinn. No, taking him to the community center to meet the preternaturally wise kids didn't get him fired. Nor did their relationship. Clay got fired because he didn't delvier. It's not about you!
Dan. Although we loved his crazed drowning/baptism/fashion critique, Nate getting canned -- and Clay's part in it -- had nothing to do with Dan -- especially since Nathan has been quite clear that he wants nothing to do with his father.
There's more after the jump -- read on!
Millie's behavior
Who it's about
Millie. She's spiraling down, and she's losing control.
Alex. Look, Millie wouldn't be completely freaked out about her (non-existant) weight "problem" if Alex hadn't been calling her a "plus-size model." And Millie wouldn't have had easy access to cocaine if Alex hadn't had it with her. We give her points for telling Millie to quit, but it's a bit late, you know?
Who it's not about
Brooke. We get that Brooke feels betrayed when Millie's agent (!!) demands a $500,000 contract for her services, but it's not personal -- it's business. That means screaming "You're an ungrateful employee!" is a crappy negotiating tactic. And that makes her cold-hearted dismissal when Millie calls from jail all the more stinging. Ouch!
Brooke and Julian's relationship
Who it's about
Brooke (duh) and Julian(duh again.) They're the ones in this relationship, and they're the ones who are going to have to work it out. Yes, we were sniffling a bit when Brooke confessed that she couldn't have kids, and we were heartened by Julian's response.
Who it's not about
Alex. Sorry, girl -- you're out. And don't use Julian not responding to your "I love you" text (which -- TACKY!) as an excuse to give up sobriety. That's all you. Julian was upfront with Alex the whole time -- he loves Brooke, and he has no interest in Alex. If she couldn't hear that, it's her own damn fault.
Rachel's Sweeps plan
What it's about
Ratings, and the money they bring. The plan to do a live boradcast form the hall of hte high school where Dan shot Keith is the sort of hideous stunt that would probably bring in big bucks.
Revenge. Rachel wants to rub her former friends' noses in her success. So what if she's dragging up all sorts of painful memories? They deserve it for shunning her now!
What it's not about
"[Reaching] out to the disenfranchised or whatever." Oh, please. Even you don't beleive that, Rachel.
Dan's mental health. Rachel says the boradcast means he can " finally come to terms with the choices you made that day." If she gave a damn about his mental and spiritual health, we wouldn't have had this little exchange:
Rachel: It'll be riveting television.
Dan: A little insensitive, isn't it?
RachelNot as insensitive as murdering your brother.
Ouch!
There was plenty more -- Victoria arrives to be awesome, Skills is shocked to learn that movie jobs tend to be located in Los Angeles, and Mouth gets to be self-righteous again -- but it's time for us to stop talking and you to tell us what you think. Have at it in the comments!

omg was this not the best ep!! it was classic OTH, with lots of theoretical/philosophical moments and lines, relationships, drama!!! love it! i loved everything about this ep. all the story lines that could be so cliche are actually turning into something much more compelling. also dan is visiting everyone to see if he can 'help' them, only to find..no one cares. HA! yep. loved this soooo much! xxx

Brooke: Get over the whole infertility thing. You can adopt like you were planning to. You can get a surrogate or choose an egg donor.

Clay shouldn't have been so greedy. He should have taken what he could get for Nathan. A two-year contract with a salary is pretty damn great. Especially since Nathan has only been playing in the big-time for a little over a year and everyone thought that he would never make it. He's older than everyone else who are practically just starting out like him and he had an injury that he was never supposed to come back from. They should have been grateful and taken the deal the Bobcats were offering. Millie is stupid. It is Alex's fault for calling her a "plus-size" model and encouraging her to stay out partying all night. But she still should have been smarter than that. Millie has never had friends like those models and she wants to fit in. But it's definitely not a good environment for anyone. Put her in rehab. What she said to Brooke was totally uncalled for and she was being ungrateful. Alex, Get Over Julian. He's not yours! Alex should be completely out of the picture; Brooke fired her and her script with Julian didn't work out. Julian needs to stop being a moron and hanging out with her and buying her bull. As for Rachel, she deserved what she got. She could have gotten clean and developed confidence without turning into "Stepford Rachel." She comes home all "holier than thou," spouting crap from Dan's book and t.v. show, and practically blaming Brooke for the fact that she took the money. Brooke never blackballed Rachel, Victoria did. Brooke tried to help her. What she said to Mouth about Brooke was awful and the fact that she blamed everything on the people who love her and were trying to help was unbelievable.

go nathan, fire clay. go haley for chewing out quinn. what kind of sister is she?

No one is talking about Millie? Was I the only one whose heart broke for her? Even as bad as she's been acting, it was the old Millie who the cop shined that flashlight at. It was (kinda) the old Millie who called Brooke.

this episode was like dream crushing. brookes dreams to have kids are gone, clay's career was hurt, nathan's career is over, and mouth is still out of a job and the love of his life is on crack. i felt so bad and i really was team quinn and clay which was weird because i love naley but really? haley was so mean "you are a mess and i used to look up to you" nathan, "you like that big room we gave you??" holding that over her head i was glad she moved out.

I have to say Victoria's funniest moment is when she says to chase "oh i remember you know my daughter your name is fetch or dash or something" that was so funny!
I also just want to say I haven't really missed payton or lucas on the show this season but the other day I saw and old episode and realised how funny payton could be and how much I miss lucus squinting! And really do miss them, especially since clay and quinn r total idiots!!

Victoria's "Even those Heidi Spencer people have an agent" line was the best!

Could Quinn be anymore self absorbed? I'm glad that Haley didn't buy what she was selling. Feeling sorry for Clay was fine (I felt for him too) but where the hell was her sympathy for her family? Don't they matter to her? She can go away now and take Millie and Alex too. I hate them as well.
Poor Brooke! Saw this storyline comin a mile away!!!! I don't trust the writers to handle it with any sort of care or finesse either.
This show needs to get better or I need to lower my standards if I am to continue watching it!

Quinn is dead to me. Her lack of concern for her sister and her nephew is sick. Ok, yeah maybe Nathan doesn't concern her at the end of the day but his job/livelihood being in jeopardy DOES threaten HJ. The fact that she's blinded by her new love of all of 90 seconds is retarded. Dont get me started on her use of 'baby'. Seriously, can you at least go on one date, get a divorce, let you new beau get over his hallucinations of his dead wife? I think all of the tears have melted her brain into goo. She's effing bi-polar
