One Tree Hill: Somewhere Over the Rainbow

The One Tree Hill gang borrows from The Wizard of Oz this week as the boys go camping, the girls go on a different trip altogether, and Dan goes a little nuts.

If I Only Had A Brain... on Drugs
OK, we'll admit it -- we love whacked-out Haley. After consuming a few too many "special" brownies, Hales is all about the random observations, but still utterly herself. Our favorite High Haley quotes:

"Now when they say they represent the lollipop guild, do you think that's a trade union? And if it is, why did they unionize? Did they need shorter hours or longer sticks or different flavors?"

"Is your career path pretty much just laid out for you when your parents name you Zelda? Zzzzzzzzzzelda. It's kind of like if they call you Bambi or Oprah."
Hee!

If I Only Had a Heart....oh, wait
Because, yes, Dan does have a heart -- one that was apparently harvested from a South American kid after Rachel paid his family to take him off life support, and then implanted in his chest at a cut-rate transplant clinic. (Dan really can survive anything...) Now Dan is having visions of his heart donor, and he wants to tell his audience that he's not really living on borrowed time. Rachel, in the role of the Wicked Witch, tells him that would kill the show. The audience will forgive a murderer, but they won't take kindly to being conned.

If I Only Had the Nerve...or not
Jamie's none too excited about a zipline on the hiking trail, but he doesn't want to tell his dad, because Nathan's not afraid of anything. But Julian engineers a situation that lets Jamie prove his mettle -- convincing Nathan that he needs to let Jamie be the brave one for once. Nicely done!

The Wizard of Tree Hill
To heck with Oz -- just come to Tree Hill and consult with Julian if you've got a question. He counsels Mouth to go on the internet (obviously he's been listening to our podcasts), susses out that Jamie is afraid of the zip line and gives him a graceful out, and even lets Nathan know what's really going on in his son's head. Now if only he could get Brooke to understand that he really does love her...

Glinda the Good Witch of Dead Wives
Clay ditches camping so he can hang out with his dead wife. Um... ok. Fortunately, Sarah manages to get through to Clay that he doesn't have to be alone in time to get him to open up to Quinn. We're guessing this means their relationship can get moving now -- but we'll see...

There's No Place Like Home
After coming to terms with his stolen heart, Dan decides he and Rachel should take a trip. To where -- the Bahamas? Paris? No. Tree Hill. Dan is coming home -- and we can't wait!

What's your take? Were you terrified of the Oryctolagus cuniculus? Did Haley and Brooke's under-the-influence antics make you laugh? Were you surprised by Dan's heart revelation? Talk about it in the comments!

i really liked this episode
haley and brooke were so funny!
i dont really like the clay and sarah storyline but hopefully now thats over cause of Quinn,
i thought it was soo funny when skills brought up the sex tape!
cant wait fo next week

Remember The Titans and The Replacements are the best sports movies. Talk about something with basketball in it--Teen Wolf and Rebound. They need to talk about Lucas and Peyton more. Brooke said that if it were their last moments on Earth she was glad she was spending them with Haley. Shouldn't that be Peyton? Nathan should have talked about how much he hurt Peyton by sleeping with Brooke. Why was her name barely brought up except for when Julian pointed out that she and Nathan were on a break? Nathan should have talked about what happened after everyone found out and how sorry he was for hurting Peyton. Julian said that Dan and his dad should go bowling. That's ridiculous since Paul was nowhere near as bad as Dan. They seem to forget that Dan is Lucas' father too. What's up with Jamie asking if they can forgive Dan now? As for the jump, since when is Jamie afraid of anything? I thought he was just covering for Julian. When talking about having kids, why didn't they talk about whether Peyton and Julian ever had that conversation? Especially since Peyton wanted kids long before Brooke. Or, mention that they didn't because Peyton was still in love with Luke. Nathan said that nobody's ready to have kids until they do, but that's not true. Lucas and Peyton were. Nathan should have pointed that out. I didn't understand the comment Dan made about Lucas not doing anything. They didn't explain that. Did he mean that Lucas was away on permanent vacation? He hadn't come out with another book? He and Peyton gave up the management of Tric and Red Bedroom Records? Finally Clay and Quinn were pretty good but they should have shown them more. I would much rather spend time at Clay's with that huge swimming pool than be out in the woods. He made the right choice. Even though I like him and Quinn, I hope he doesn't stop thinking about Sarah.

brooke and haley were great, and felt for the first time that Quinn was the older sister because she was not tearful

Loved the episode and love all your parallels to the Wizard of Oz ... Haley's quote was HIGHlarious. ;)

ha! awesome ep! as i was watching Jamie, I thought a lot of Haley came out if him. being that he was cared of heights -- it seemed something Haley would do, so it was nice to see a piece of her in him. also the ep was HILARIOUS, so good, funny. had a witchy word, weed, forest, scare stories, all of it! really good.

good explaining of dans heart too! and they are finally coming to TH..can't wait for the drama. next week looks AMAZING!

I loved this episode! I was laughing the whole time! And I loved Julian more than anyone else. Poor guy just kept getting it left and right! And they're all obsessed with sports while he's there quoting movies, lol. Coach Carter reference was awesome because didn't Mark make that movie? And Antwon was in it.

Very entertaining episode! Can't wait for Dan to go back! Should have known he wasn't gonna die.

I wanted to turn it off at the Fast Times reinactment, but couldn't. It was like watching a car wreck and it got progressively worse.
