The Sourcies Mourn The CW's Dearly Departed

The Sourcies has its black armband on in honor of The Most Dearly Departed: those characters whose death -- or departures -- shook us to the core. We're still mourning the loss of these fine CW citizens.

But before we remember our dead and/or gone, let's take a moment to celebrate the living -- especially those who lived through the Favorite Fashion Guru competition! In a stunning upset, Gossip Girl's Chuck Bass narrowly edged out One Tree Hill's Brooke Davis for the crown. Wow! We didn't see that coming -- Brooke had a commanding lead through the first part of the competition. But whatever Chuck did, he did it well, and he squeaked out a win. Was it the orange separates? The burgundy smoking jackets? The ascots? The short-shorts? We'll never know, but Chuck, we salute you. Brooke -- we're sorry you didn't win the competition, but we're sure Chuck would be willing to console you for your defeat.

Now onto the competition. Which of these dead and/or departed folks do you miss the most? Your votes will decide. Polls are open until July 29 at noon, so get voting!

Jimmy Olson
Smallville

Jimmy had a bad year -- his dream wedding was interrupted by an intergalactic killing machine obsessed with his new bride, his wife was covering for a murderer, and he picked up a drug habit to boot. But that was nothing compared to the way Jimmy died at the hands of a rage-filled Davis Bloom. What's more, Jimmy wasn't even really Jimmy. How's that for an insult from beyond the grave?
  Quentin Fields
One Tree Hill

Oh, Q! He was finally turning into a really good guy -- helping Nathan with his comeback, being a boon to the team, and being downright adorable with Jamie. That's why his senseless death -- at the hands of the man who beat up Brooke and kidnapped Sam -- was so shocking. Of course, we consoled ourselves with his ghostly presence for much of the season. RIP, Q

Bart Bass
Gossip Girl

Let's face it: Bart was not a nice man. He tormented his son, alienated his new wife, and kept dossiers on the entire family. But you have to admit that his sudden death shook the Gossip Girl universe -- and sent Chuck on a downward spiral that it took him a long time to recover from.
  Pamela Barnes
Supernatural

We loved Pamela -- she was the perfect cheeky, hard-rocking medium who wouldn't back down from a fight-- even when her eyes were burned out by an angel. Plus, even after her misfortune, she still knew how to seize the pleasure in life by seizing Sam's ass. THat's why her death -- and her dying words -- hurt us so much. "Tell Bobby to go to Hell?" Oof.

Charlie Hogan
Privileged

OK, fine, Charlie didn't actually die. Bur we still went into mourning when we learned that sweetheart Charlie was leaving Privileged. Yes, we liked Megan better with Will, but come on! It was Michael Cassidy! We adore him!

More Michael Cassidy on The CW!

Michael CassidyWe can't get enough of Michael Cassidy here at The CW Source, and it looks like The CW feels the same way. The two-time veteran of CW shows (first as creepy Cliff on Hidden Palms, then as the doomed Grant/Julian Luthor on Smallville) will be back again this fall on Filthy Rich Girls! He'll play the boyfriend of lead Joanna Garcia.

What do you think about this new development?

Michael Cassidy Joins Smallville This Fall!

Michael CassidyMichael Cassidy stole our hearts as creepy-with-a-soft-side Cliff on Hidden Palms. Now, TVGuide.com reports that he'll be stirring things up as the editor-in-chief of The Daily Planet this fall on Smallville! Oh, and that's not all... sounds like he'll also be a love interest for Lois (!).

There's already been some grumbling about Cassidy's relative youth -- at 24, he's pretty young to be running the paper. Does that bother you? We're willing to go with it until we see how he does. Based on his performance on Hidden Palms, we think the guy can handle anything (okay, yes, we're biased because he gave us a great one-on-one interview and was totally nice).

Are you guys excited about this new development? Would you have preferred an older actor in the role, or are you ready to give Cassidy a chance? Discuss!
