Chad Michael Murray turns 27 today. Happy birthday, Chad!

The One Tree Hill star has had quite a year. Chad scored a Teen Choice surfboard earlier this month when he won for Choice TV Actor. And he's been busy on the set of OTH this summer -- Chad shared at Teen Choice that he'll be penning an episode of One Tree Hill this season -- a noir-inspired episode! We can't wait to see Chad's episode.

Chad and Lucas Scott are both writers, but that's where the similarities end. While Chad spent a calm year working on OTH and hanging out with his long-time fiancee, Kenzie, Lucas had one of his most tumultuous years, relationship- and career-wise, yet! He returned to Tree Hill to find his brother Nathan and best friend Haley in bad shape and struggling with their marriage. He had a serious girlfriend, Lindsey, but their relationship wasn't quite the same once he ran into (and locked lips with!) old flame Peyton. Finally, he and Lindsey made it to the altar, only to be left there when Lindsey realized they weren't on the same page with their relationship. And that was only the first half of the season!

We also saw Lucas in so many other memorable scenes -- coaching the Ravens, bonding with Nathan, and even the shocker when he drunkenly told Peyton he hated her! And then there's the finale that left us hanging... who did Lucas call and ask to marry him in Vegas? Guess we'll find out in a few weeks on the OTH premiere!

Eonline reports that Gossip Girl received a whopping 14 Teen Choice nominations, including Best Drama, Best Breakout Show, and Choice TV Actor/Actress.

It's true that GG is everywhere on the list of nominations. All three female leads (Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, and Taylor Momsen) are up for Best Breakout Female Star, and we were especially excited to see Ed Westwick's Chuck Bass nominated for Choice TV Villain along with Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum. But One Tree Hill also earned its fair share of nominations, including Choice TV Drama, Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush for Choice TV Actress and Chad Michael Murray for Choice TV Actor. Our complaint: where are James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Galeotti? They deserve some noms, too!

Other shows represented include America's Next Top Model (Cycle 10 winner Whitney is up for Choice TV Female Reality Star, Tyra is up for Choice TV Personality, and the show itself is in the running for Choice TV: Reality Beauty and Makeover), Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (for Reality Music Competition), and Smallville (Choice TV Show Action/Adventure, Choice TV Actor/Actress Action/Adventure for Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk). Even Beauty and The Geek made the list with a nomination for Choice TV: Reality Beauty & Makeover.

Notably absent from the list: Supernatural and Reaper. And what about Everybody Hates Chris, Aliens in America, Girlfriends, and The Game? We think these shows were seriously overlooked -- do you agree?

Sounds like Chad Michael Murray's a fan of Kevin Federline. People.com reports that the two have had friendly relations on the set of One Tree Hill -- hey, K-Fed even joined Chad's 26th birthday celebration! Chad calls him a "nice guy," and he's not the only one. The article features other pro-K-Fed testimonials.

But the most interesting part of the article's in the final sentence:

"The work will be helpful for the slacker-turned-actor who, according to documents released Thursday, 'has no net income after business expenses.'"

Ouch. No income? Let's hope OTH's paychecks get K-Fed back on track.

Don't worry, One Tree Hill fans. We wouldn't let the day go by without wishing Chad the very best on his birthday (thanks to commenter CMMF for the reminder, though!).

Can you believe he's 26? Seems like only yesterday he was diving into acting with guest-starring roles on Dawson's Creek and Gilmore Girls (remember Charlie and Tristan?).

These days, Chad's ruling his dramatic scenes as Lucas on OTH. He's probably glad to be playing a character closer to his real age -- come fall, the show will jump ahead four years so the cast can play their characters post-college.

What do you think Chad's doing to celebrate tonight? Heading out with fiance Kenzie Dalton for a romantic dinner, hitting the clubs, or maybe both? Hey, you only turn 26 once!

Since Chad has long since moved on with Kenzie, we wonder who Sophia might date in 2007. She's been pretty quiet about her romances post-Chad.

This year, we'd like to see her with a man who'll treat her right... but who? Who would you like to see Sophia pair up with in '07?

Dlisted.com calls out Chad on his new look and new bride... and questions whether he has "meth face." Chad, looking like a druggie? We're not sure if we'd go that far, but it's still kind of a jolt to see little Kenzie next to him. She has such a baby face, without that lipstick, she'd look 18! Oh, wait, she IS 18.

Okay, yes, she's old enough, but it still seems a little wrong to us. Call us hopeless romantic saps, but we miss the days of Chad and Sophia. Do you?

Today is Chad Michael Murray's 25th birthday, and he's already done a lot for his 25 years. Let's take a moment to recall Chad's many accomplishments:

Professional: He's graced the small screen in a trifecta of charmer roles -- first as Tristan on Gilmore Girls, then as elusive Charlie on Dawson's Creek, and finally in the role we know best -- Lucas, One Tree Hill's conflicted thinker.

On the movie front, Chad's starred in Freaky Friday, A Cinderella Story, and House of Wax (opposite tabloid queens Lindsay Lohan, Hilarie Duff, and Paris Hilton, respectively). We blogged about his latest project, Home of the Brave, which seems to be a step in a more serious direction...

Personal: It's no secret that Chad's personal life has been all over the 'net and gossip columns over the past year. His whirlwind marriage to OTH co-star Sophia Bush dissolved in '05, but he wasted no time finding a new woman in eighteen-year-old Kenzie Dalton, his latest fiancé.

Outlook: Chad's next year is looking good -- he has a new film in the works and a new bride-to-be by his side. What will the next year bring for Chad? Send birthday wishes his way!
