VM Creator + 90210 + CW = OMG!

OK, we're still kind of reeling from the possibilities that this news item brings up: Zap2It is reporting that Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is talks with the CW to write a new take on Beverly Hills 90210 for the network. The network should be deciding whether to order a pilot by month's end.

Our response? Oh my god! Can you imagine the possibilities of a snarky Veronica type taking on the social whirl of the Beverly Hills crowd? Just think of the potential plots, the dialogue, the overwhelming potential for awesome!

We're foaming at the mouth to see what Rob Thomas comes up with. What about you? Are you excited by the prospect, or are you still inconsolable about the demise of Veronica? Vote in our poll and leave your thoughts in the comments!

Veronica Mars News: Rob Thomas And Kyle Gallner Get New Gigs

Kyle GallnerFormer Veronica Mars head honcho Rob Thomas has been hopscotching his way across the TV landscape this summer. Fresh off his departure from the sitcom Miss/Guided, he's landed a gig as consulting producer for the ABC show Big Shots, the "Men: We're the new women" show starring a bunch of guys who really should be able to do better. (What? From what we've seen, Big Shots isn't our idea of a good time.)

Since Rob will be joining former Mars producers Danielle Stokdyk and Jennifer Gwartz on the show, maybe this time he'll stick around!

In other news, our favorite cuddly-then-psycho Veronica Mars alum, Kyle Gallner (Beaver Casablancas) will be showing up in a recurring role on FX's hard-nosed cop drama The Shield. He'll play a guy who fatally shoots an intruder, then suffers emotional consequences.

Should we worry that Kyle's characters tend to rack up quite the body count?

That Was Quick: Veronica Mars's Rob Thomas Already Leaving ABC Gig

Rob ThomasSounds like Rob Thomas's stint at Miss/Guided was short-lived -- he's left the show due to "creative differences" (but he's not leaving the network -- he's moving on to an ABC development deal). Thomas only signed on as executive producer for the ABC sitcom a month ago! And the Zap2it.com story isn't exactly forthcoming with the details. We'd love to know what went on behind the scenes. Speculation, anyone?
