BIG WARM-UP TODAY...CHILLY BY THE WEEKEND!

Scattered showers continue this morning along with mild temperatures...Showers will dwindle down through the morning as sunshine begins to work in for the afternoon.  A combination of south winds, sunshine and milder temperatures this morning should bring big warmth for the afternoon!  The forecasted high today for Indy is 68-degrees!!!  Look for redeveloping showers this evening and better chances of rain and storms for Thursday and Friday...Cooler weather with showers returns for the weekend!

SPRING WARMTH BRINGS SPRING SHOWERS!

A mild start this morning with only some patchy fog around...all in all a great start to your Tuesday!  Look for clouds to increase throughout the day as scattered showers gather this afternoon for the city...A better chance of rain for this evening as temperatures remain mild in the overnight...Wednesday will be quite warm and have a true feel of Spring!  Why?  Wednesday's forecasted high of 62-degrees will have scattered showers, mix of sun and clouds, and higher dewpoints, thus creating some higher humidity!  Something we haven't had in quite sometime...Enjoy!

WEEKEND WARMTH CONTINUES TO BUILD...

What a great weekend with highs hitting 56-degrees on Sunday!  Yesterday marked the warmest day so far of 2010 and more warmth is on the way today.  After some patchy, heavy fog this morning look for another dose of sun today with highs in the upper 50s to near 60-degrees in our southern counties!  Redeveloping fog for later tonight before rain chances return Tuesday late afternoon...Although rain chances are increasing, there will be several hours of dry weather through Wednesday.  Heavier rain and a cooler shift in the weather is expect by Thursday, which will last through the weekend!  More on FOX 59 right now until 10:00am...

BIG TEN BRINGS BIG SUN!

Yesterday's sun and milder temperatures were just a sample of the weather coming today and Saturday for the circle city and the Women's Big Ten Tournament...It will be another cold start this morning but glorious sun and lighter winds should allow temperatures to warm quickly throughout the morning and afternoon!  We have had 27 days in a row of below average highs, I believe that ends today!  More sun with absolutely beautiful conditions for Saturday should push us into the middle 50s, before some rain chances return on Sunday!  Enjoy and have a great weekend!

WINTER STORM IN REVERSE...GOODBYE SUNSHINE!

It will be a cold, crisp start this Friday morning as temperatures hover in the upper teens!  Again, bright sunshine will greet you this morning as we begin to gaze east towards gathering clouds.  A northeast storm which hammered large east coast cities Thursday is actually drifting (retrograding) back toward Indiana tonight and into Saturday.  This will not dump heavy snow here but will certainly bring areas of light snow and snow showers through Saturday night.  It appears light snow totals of 1" are possible in the city, with 1 to 2" east and northeast of I-465!  Parts of I-69 and I-70 east could have some trouble spots through Saturday night...More clouds for Sunday with only peeks of sunshine...Have a great weekend!

MORE SNOW AND COLD!

Snowfall yesterday and overnight dropped around 1 to 2 inches in central Indiana with some local reports around 3" in Clinton county.  More snow showers and flurries should be expected today as clouds linger and winds blow from the northwest.  Any accumulations today will be confined to our northeastern counties with cities like Muncie, Alexandria, New Castle, and Richmond seeing light accumulations. This stubborn winter weather pattern appears unbreakable!  Some flurries expected on Friday evening with light snow building back in for Saturday...A couple of inches are possible by Saturday night as the broken record goes on and on and on...

CLOUDS HANG...LIGHT SNOW COMING!

February clouds remain as flurries return to the area today!  Just a little reminder that we are still 25 days away from the first day of Spring...Yes, we are reinforcing the colder air this week and even colder air moves in for Wednesday.  Light snow chances are on the increase too for tomorrow, as another cold front whips through the area Wednesday afternoon.  Moisture will be lacking and the storm track is farther north but some minor accumulations are expected.  It appears that Indianapolis could pick up an inch or less by tomorrow night with the possibility of 1 to 2 inches in our northern and eastern counties...not a big snow but could easily slicken roadways by Wednesday evening's rush hour.  We're on until 10:00am...come join us on FOX 59!

ENJOY THE SUNSHINE...A SNOWY MESSY COMING!

Patchy dense fog will greet some of you out the door this morning...especially outside of 465!  Expect to see the fog lift quickly after sunrise (7:32am).  This will give way to a good dose of sunshine and milder temperatures...overall this day looks great by mid-February standards, with highs in the upper 30s!

Light snow and snow showers are expected for Saturday with little to no accumulation. This should not a be a big deal and roads should be fine with an occasional slick spot and moisture lacking.  As the second storm deepens on Sunday, we could be dealing with rain and snow mix from Sunday through Tuesday morning.  This is a developing storm that has the potential to dump heavy snows in parts of the state.  It appears that conditions will be going down hill by Monday morning through Tuesday morning...Look for updates throughout the weekend!

Cloudy skies this morning will do two things for us today:  1)  insulate temperatures this morning, allowing for a milder start  2) move out and make way for a very nice, brighter afternoon!  It's a win, win!  Overall, a pretty good looking next two days here in the city!  the only "fly in the ointment" could be some freezing fog late tonight and into Friday morning...

Snow is expected for Saturday!  This should not be a huge deal with moisture lacking...as of now, around an 1" to 1.5" expected!  We do have a better chance of snow by Sunday night...More on that in the coming days!

A POTPOURRI OF WEATHER...WHERE TO BEGIN!?!

First off...bitterly cold this morning with temperatures holding in the lower single-digits (wind chills are sub-zero)...On top of the arctic air is a thin layer of fog forming...fog is thick enough to create some black ice outside of I-465 through sunrise.  This will only be patchy in spots, not a major issue for everyone!

Look for some sunshine early today with clouds increasing throughout afternoon...Clouds tonight could bring light snow in spots and scattered flurries.  Snow should be light with only a dusting possible.  More snow chances coming for Sunday morning through Monday night.  It appears the first part of this storm on Sunday will mostly miss Indy and push through the southern part of the state.  Better chances of snow showers will arrive on Monday along brisk northwest winds!  We'll update through the weekend!

SNOW TAKES A BREAK...MORE FOR THE WEEKEND?

We're breathing a sigh of relief as the snow, wind, and clouds take a break for today!  Clouds this morning should begin to break bringing a return to some sunshine throughout the afternoon.  Winds that gusted at 40mph in the city yesterday will be a distant memory today, winds are relaxing through Friday. In fact, quiet conditions are expected across the better part of the U.S., as the stormy, snowy pattern calms for a couple of days!  The exception will be the deep south as snow is likely for Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabma through Saturday morning with accumulations of 2 to 5 inches...

Our next chance of snow will come Sunday (Valentine's Day) and on through Monday...For now it appears snow should be light in accumulations but it could create some slick roads for Monday morning's rush...Look for more updates in the coming days!
