RAIN ON RADAR...FALL IN THE AIR!

Much needed rain is falling west and north of Indy right now...rain chances will increase throughout the day with our best chances tonight.  Not everyone will receive heavy rain but some areas will have the potential of receiving over an inch by Friday morning!   The cold front providing the rain chances will also bring a significant cool down for the weekend...fall is in the air, as the nights this weekend will be chilly!

TRACKING RAIN AND BIG DADDY EARL!

Scattered showers are falling in Illinois...unfortunately, that's where they will stay for a majority of today!  Rain chances will increase this evening and into Thursday, along with a few embedded thunderstorms.  Showers will end on Friday morning and fall weather arrives for our Labor Day!

Hurricane Earl is still on course to rake the Outer Banks of North Carolina early Friday morning...from Wilmington, NC to Boston, MA expect strong winds, flooding rains and heavy storm surge through Saturday morning...No direct landfall is expected, so damage should be limited!

Evacuations Due to Earl

North Carolina just issued evacuations for their barrier islands ahead of major Hurricane Earl.  For us here in Indiana we get to sit back and watch, but don't forget to say a prayer tonight for those who are in harms way.

ONE OF THE HOTTEST AND DRIEST ON RECORD...

It's not official but August should go down as the driest on record with a miserable .37" for the entire month...nearly 3.50" below average!  Along with being soooo dry, it has been one of the warmest months on record.  The average monthly temperature for this month is holding at 79.5 degrees.  This makes August 2010 the fourth warmest ever on record.  With highs this afternoon pushing the middle 90s, we could move to the third warmest on record by tomorrow!  Rain chances increase Wednesday and on through Friday morning...this will be followed by MUCH cooler air for the holiday weekend!

HOTTER DAYS AHEAD...LACK OF WATER!

Near record heat building in today under more hazy sun and south winds.  The record high today is 95-degrees, our forecast high is 93-degrees!  Expect a couple of thundershowers across the state today with little to no relief to our drought-like conditions.  More heat for the next few days could put August as one of the driest and hottest ever on record.  Our next decent chance of rain will fall on Thursday followed with a cool down...

90's RETURN AS HUMIDITY INCREASES

After a comfortable stretch of temperatures last week, we'll usher in hotter temperatures to start and end the weekend. Temperatures today will top out in the upper 80's in most locations with a few 90 degree readings possible. Plenty of sunshine and winds from the south will help to bump up the temperatures today and tomorrow.
