FLURRY CHANCE CONTINUES...COLD TEMPERATURES THE BIGGER STORY!

FIRST SNOW IS FALLING...ROADS MESSY!

Snow began to fall around 4:15am this morning in the downtown area...most snow will be ending before 9:00am.  Accumulations will vary but most locations should see a dusting to a half inch!  Some reports of around 1 inch are possible but very isolated.  After the snow this morning look for mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 30s.

ALL SIGNS POINT TO A VERY COLD AFTERNOON...

This morning temperatures hovered in the upper 40s with areas of light rain...Roads should be just fine for the morning rush hour.

 

8am: look for temperatures in the upper 30s with gusty winds

 

Noon:  expect a rain to snow mix with temperatures in the lower 30s

 

11:00am to 3pm: expect the strongest wind gusts near 50mph

 

4pm:  expect a few passing snow showers, gusty winds and wind chills between 10-15 degrees.

 

6pm:  a few flurries, some patchy ice on roads and temperatures in the upper 20s

 

This is a winter storm...not a snow storm!  Wind and cold are the big stories...

WHOAAA NELLY! MAN ITS COLD....

Wind chills are sub-zero this morning from 0 to 5 below...this is making for one frigid start!  Snow showers are still blowing around but should be ending around 10:00am this morning state-wide. Sunshine builds in today but temperatures won't move much with a high of only 20-degrees!  Milder air will drift into the area by the upcoming weekend bringing a nice thaw...look for our next chance of rain or wintry mix early on Sunday...Stay Warm!  And get more on FOX 59 news right now!

WEEKEND WARM-UP...SUNDAY WINTRY MIX?

Loads of sunshine for today after another frigid start...look for afternoon highs in the lower 30s.  Clouds increase throughout the day on Saturday with temperatures in the upper 30s.  Saturday night into Sunday morning look for the possibilty of a mix of sleet, light freezing rain and snow.  This will ultimately change-over to all rain through Sunday morning with rising temperatrues, as roads become wet not icy.  Tailgating for the colts game could have us under clouds and wet conditions...Be sure to check in this weekend on the evolving forecast!

CLOUDS LINGER...COLD WINDS RETURNING!

Clouds from Sunday linger for today with only a passing shower or sprinkles today!  Expect afternoon temperatures a bit milder this afternoon with highs in the upper 40s and breezy winds at 15 mph.  A cold front will push in this evening and begin another transition to colder weather for Tuesday.  Temperatures may actually fall throughout the day as winds turns gusty tomorrow afternoon.  Any snow will fall in the form of flurries Tuesday with most falling in the early hours...Look for this cold spell to linger through the upcoming weekend!

ANOTHER WINTER STORM NEEDS TO BE WATCHED!

After a snowy weekend...Monday and the first day of Winter opens under pretty quiet conditions.  Look for cloudy to mostly cloudy skies to continue through today with only a few flurries from time to time.  Afternoon highs should hover around 33 to 35 degrees here in the city!  Another storm is brewing for midweek and the midwest!  For now, this will be a big rain-maker for us on Christmas Eve, changing to snow showers for Christmas Day...little to no accumulation expected!  If your travels take you west it could be a real mess...Be sure to watch us as this storm continues to evolve over the next few days.  Any deviation in this track could impact many cities just before Christmas...Stay tuned!

LIGHT SNOW IS FALLING...ROADS TURN MESSY NORTHWEST!

Light snow is falling this morning with the likelihood of a quick inch accumulating for areas north of Indy.  The city of Indianapolis should see a half inch or less.  Most snow will be winding down by 1pm this afternoon but this morning's rush hour could be messy in spots (especially I-65 north and I-74 west)...We are currently in a very active weather pattern with each day this week producing either snow, freezing rain, sleet and rain. LIGHT WINTRY MIX NORTH AND EAST...WET NOT WHITE?

Good Wednesday morning!  We are currently on road watch this morning with reports of an icy mix north and east in Indianapolis.  In the city, mostly rain from this point on through Christmas morning...Overall travel looks pretty good for the areas mainly west of I-65 today and for tomorrow.  A massive snow storm is expected for the northern plains, central plains and upper midwest starting tonight and into Christmas morning.  Some snow totals will exceed a foot to a foot and a half in regions out west by noon Christmas Day!   Best to check your travel conditions if heading west for the holiday!

RAIN PUSHING IN...COULD BE HEAVY AT TIMES!

Rain is now working in to the area at this time...We are watching roadways north and east of the city, yet again, as some icy conditions could hamper your travel.  As the day wears on the threat of icy conditions will end across most of Indiana.  Rain will be heavy at times today and into Christmas Day with one to two inches possible with some stronger wind gusts...Snow chances increasing for the upcoming weekend.  This could put down some light accumulations by Sunday and into Monday morning.  Have a very Merry Christmas!

A dry but very cold start this morning with temperatures in the teens and wind chills in the lower single digits!  Some sun should be seen this morning in some locations...clouds will gather this afternoon as snow showers develop.  Little accumulation should be expected, a dusting at best in isolated spots!  Along with the snow showers expect gusty winds throughout the afternoon.  Clearing skies tonight will make for a cold night!   More sun expected on Tuesday as cold air lingers...

BEST DAY OF THE WEEK...SNOW RETURNING!

Sun is back if only for one day...this with a combination of lighter winds and dry weather should bring the best day of the week!  Afternoon highs should hover in the upper 20s by 4:00pm today.  Clouds increase tonight as our next snow-maker moves in on Wednesday and into Thursday.  A wintry mix of mostly snow should begin to fall by late Wednesday afternoon and last on through Thursday morning.  Certainly enough snow to accumulate is expected which could slicken roads...How much?  Not a huge amount...for now maybe .50" to 2"!  Look for more updates...

CLOUDS BACK...AND SO IS SNOW!

After a sunny Tuesday, clouds are rolling into the area this morning!  Expect a dry rush hour this morning with temperatures holding in the middle 20s...not bad considering this time yesterday morning temperatures were as low as 12-degrees in the city.   Light snow and flurries are breaking out west of Indiana with our chances for snow increasing throughout the day.  This will NOT be a significant snow but should be enough for light accumulations (1 to 2 inches) later today and into early tomorrow morning.  Light accumulations could certainly slicken up roads late tonight and for early Thursday morning.  Other than the snow, look for another cold push of air that could easily last through all of next week!  More on FOX 59 right now!

SO LONG 2009...A COLD START TO 2010!

Light snow and drizzle will continue to mix in at times this morning and on through the afternoon...little to no accumulations expected from this point on.  A cold front arrives tonight which will make for breezy and much colder conditions around midnight tonight, as flurries will be winding down.  Harsher conditions return for our first day of 2010!  The combination of gusty winds and falling temperatures will push wind chills into the single digits by 4:00pm tomorrow.  More cold with little snow for our first full week of the new year!  Stay warm and Happy New Year...
