This morning's wind chills are ranging between 0 and -10 this morning...Atleast sunshine will greet you at sunrise this morning (8:06am) making for a bright start to the year too. Flurries later this afternoon could turn to areas of light snow with a dusting in spots by Saturday morning...I mention this because roads could be slick in spots tomorrow morning! Snow showers, steady winds and arctic cold temperatures...Winter is here with no budging! As we move on today and into Wednesday less in the way of snow showers and flurries should be expected but the cold remains...Snow will be gathering by Thursday morning out in our western counties then move east throughout the day. The cold wave continues Wednesday with temperatures in the single digits Wednesday morning. A fast moving storm system will arrive by Thursday bringing the season's biggest snow.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect Thursday across all of central Indiana. Heavy snow is likely during or late in the morning commute.
Snow is falling at 11 AM along the Illinois / Indiana border. Snow arriving in Indy around 2 AM with heavy snow likely for the Thursday morning commute.
Snow started around 3:00am this morning in the city and will begin to pick-up with intensity from this point on...heavier snow banding will begin around 10am and could produce an inch to 1/2 inch per hour...this will create problems on many roads, as plows and salt trucks will have a difficult time keeping up! A solid 3 to 5 inch snow accumulation is still in the forecast for today...some reports of close to six inch totals by Friday morning will be likely too. Snowfall amounts range from three to five inches across much of central Indiana. Fishers in Hamilton County has reported 5.2". The snow is winding down from west to east.

The 46 High Thursday was the warmest in three weeks but clouds and a wind shift Friday morning will bring a slight cool down Friday.
The fog will once again greet early morning risers across central Indiana Monday morning. A Freezing Fog Advisory has been issued.
Little has changed over the past few days: Areas of fog, low clouds and still yet somewhat mild for January! Fog will lift at times throughout the day but clouds will not break in central parts of the state. This will make for another gloomy day with highs around 40-degrees. Rain showers will return tomorrow as temperatures again holld near 40 under cloudy skies. By the way, did you know that the 2 cloudiest months of year for Indiana are January and February? So hang in there...Spring arrives in 61 days!!!
Tuesday morning will open just like the last four - with plenty of fog and even some freezing drizzle. Icy conditions are becoming a reality come Wednesday night.

Rain and freezing rain are falling in Illinois and southwestern Indiana as of 5:38am this morning. With temperatures below freezing, rain freezing on roadways (freezing rain) is possible...a freezing rain advisory is already in effect for our extreme western counties (Indy not included). We will be monitoring the roads throughout the morning for any ice formation. It appears the best timing for any ice here (Indianapolis) today would be between 8:00am to 2:00pm. With temperatures hovering near the freezing mark early Thursday morning some secondary road and walk ways are slick. The next rain maker arrives later today.
Another round of freezing rain overnight is creating a lot of problems on area roadways, mainly north and east of Indianapolis...expect roads to improve as the morning wears on due to salt trucks going out right now and temperatures steadily rising...This afternoon rain will fall and not freeze as highs climb into the middle to upper 30s.
Level 1 travel warnings and advisories are in effect for Randolph and Wayne counties...travel is very tough out there as of 6:00am this morning...they are advising travelers to use extreme caution in those areas.

The second system in two days brought healthy rains to central Indiana. Over two thirds of an inch of rain fell in Indianapolis - the biggest rain in over five weeks.
Patchy, heavy fog creating several school delays again this morning! Expect road conditions to improve through the morning and afternoon, as drier air works in...Highs today, not bad, ranging from 40 to 45 degrees in the city!
The weekend forecast will be an active one with warm and windy conditions on Saturday, followed by heavy rain and storms on Sunday morning. Saturday's high could be the warmest so far of 2010, forecasted at 55-degrees! Cold front arrives Sunday morning pushing temperatures down and overspreading the area with heavy rain (1 to 2") and gusty thunderstorms.

The temperature down turn is under way with gusty snow showers blowing across the area Monday night.
Temperatures Tuesday afternoon struggled to stay above the 20 degree mark combined with a brisk wind the wind chills were only in the single digits. Reinforcing cold air is coming.
A sunny start this morning but a cold start too...Enjoy the early sunshine as clouds gather this afternoon and into the overnight. Light snow is expected in the overnight with an inch or less of accumulation. Most of the accumulating snow will fall south of I-70 and should be ending by 10:00am Thursday morning. Not a huge deal but some roads will be slick to icy and accidents will ensue...
A southern storm is still being monitored with heavy snow possible from Arkansas to Washington D.C. on Friday and into Saturday! Watches and warnings are up and this storm is just now forming...traveling south and southeast for the weekend could bring long delays!
We saw areas that picked up near a half inch of snow overnight. It was just enough to ice over the road ways and cause slick conditions.
