PATTERN MOVING BACKWARDS BRINGS CHANCE OF SNOW

A LARGE UPPER LOW OVERN THE NORTHEASTERN U.S. WILL BACK UP FRIDAY AND BRING SNOW INTO INDIANA FROM THE NORTHEAST WHILE KEEPING THE COOL PATTERN INTACT.

A closed low that has stalled over the northeast U.S. is showing signs of going in reverse.  The retrograding low as meteorologists call it will spread clouds and eventually snow back to central Indiana Friday evening.

Under a mainly clear sky Thursday night temperatures will settle into the middle teens for the Friday morning commute.  Watch through the day as high cirrus clouds begin to push in from the northeast sky.  Temperatures will make a run again into the lower 30's - still well below normal - before the clouds thicken Friday afternoon.  Snow showers will develop across Marion - Muncie and Kokomo before settling southwest into Lafayette - Indianapolis and Shelbyville.

Snowfall could reach an inch and a half in the city with local 2" plus totals further northeast.

Flurries will linger into Sunday morning but clouds are expected to give way to sun as the second half of the weekend shows improvement.  Over all the month of February will close on a cool note and start March on the chilly side.  The normal high Friday is 44 degrees.
