QUIET MIDWEEK - STORM THREAT AND COLDER AIR LOOMS
The final month of Meteorological winter is underway but there is very little in the way of wintry weather expected through Thursday. Some sun will return for Wednesday and fade away Thursday as clouds gather with a developing storm system.
Storm System number one will take shape Friday. Two areas of low pressure will phase or merge Friday night. One across the central U.S. will be absorbed by s stronger more dominate southern system. This will allow light rain and snow to break out across central Indianan Friday. The system track and speed will determine how much or how little snow will accumulate going into the weekend. one long range computer model solution indicated a few inches of snow here but has backed off some in its afternoon run. Other models indicate that the southern system will throw back some moisture as colder air settles in late Friday night. It is still very early but will be monitored closely.
The second system will develop Monday and Tuesday. As a shift to a much colder pattern evolves next week - a blocking pattern over Greenland forcing colder air into the eastern U.S. - a southern storm system with plentiful moisture will develop. This system could prove to be formidable with a outbreak of ice - sleet and snow. The exact track again is up for debate and will have to be watched closely.
