WINTER STORM UPDATE 11 PM

STRONG WINDS LOCKING IN BUT HEAVY WET SNOW PULLING EAST

Through 11 PM snow accumulation across the city ranges on average from 3" to 5" with locally higher totals over the northeastern and eastern portions of Marion County.  Officially the NWS has 5" of snow - a record for the date (3.6" set in 1908).  5.8 inches were reported in McCordsville with 5 inches in Fishers.

UPDATED SNOWFALL TOTALS FRIDAY NIGHT

8.0" Straughn (Henry Co.)

7.5" Muncie (Delaware Co.)

6.0" Alexandria (Madison Co.

Light Snow and Blowing snow will linger into Saturday morning.  Winds are expected to subside throughout the day.  Temperatures Saturday night will drop into the lower to middle teens and recover to the upper 20's Sunday afternoon.

A NEW STORM TO WATCH

Another potentially stronger system is expected to emerge from the Southern Plains Monday afternoon.  This system unlike the Friday storm will have much more cold air to work with.  Friday's storm totals could have been much higher if temperatures would have slipped below the freezing mark during the height of the heavy snow.  Arctic air will be on the move as the storm lifts toward central Indiana Monday night.  Several Inches of snow are possible with strong winds and late season arctic air to arrive Wednesday.
