WINTRY WEATHER HEADED TO CENTRAL INDIANA
Clouds are slowly eroding Wednesday afternoon and will continue to do so overnight. The temperatures have struggled all Wednesday afternoon to get out of the 20's. The low clouds as indicated by visible satellite imagery have broke across south central Indiana - with temps responding - 32 degrees in Bloomington while Indianapolis remains at 28 degrees.
Thursday will open with some sun but clouds will increase throughout the day. A complex storm system will begin to spread moisture into southern Indiana Friday morning and into central Indiana Friday afternoon.
Temperatures both Thursday and Friday will climb into the middle to upper 30's - making the forecast Friday a little more tricky.
An upper level, northern stream low will drop south and eventually phase with a stronger southern - Gulf of Mexico low Friday night. This upper air feature will energize the southern storm and bring a major nor'easter for the Mid Atlantic and Northeast U.S.
Central Indiana is on the northern flank of the system and present indications are that a mix of sleet and snow should develop Friday late morning into the afternoon. Slippery travel is expected by late Friday afternoon and evening. Snowfall accumulation is still up for debate. A mix of snow and sleet could cut down on snowfall totals with present indications of up to four inches possible in some locations. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for all of central Indiana beginning Thursday night through Saturday AM.
