The chilly, northwest flow continues this Monday as more clouds hang around with little rain or snow throughout the day!  Expect this weather pattern to hold through Wednesday with only small chances for sprinkles/flurries but plenty of clouds...good news is that there is no accumulating snow in the forecast.  The weather pattern will begin a major shift late this week with our first taste of Spring finally arriving!  Temperatures climbing into the upper 50s by Saturday and into Sunday are quite likely. Come join us on FOX 59 until 10:00am this morning...

THE HIGH TUESDAY OF 43 DEGREES WAS THE WARMEST IN INDIANAPOLIS IN OVER A MONTH.  CLOUDS AND SLIGHTLY COOLER AIR RETURN WEDNESDAY.

CLOUDY SKIES AND CHILLY TEMPS WEDNESDAY MAKES THIS THE 27th CONSECUTIVE DAY WITH HIGH TEMPS BELOW NORMAL.  SUNSHINE WILL WARM US UP.

A clear and frosty start this morning will give way to plenty of sunshine for today...high temperatures will climb into the lower 40s under all this sunshine!  Still below average but this is the beginning of a warm-up into the weekend!  Here is my forecast over the next 5 days:

CLEAR SKIES - LIGHT WINDS - LOW DEPOINTS AND LINGERING SNOW COVER WILL SRT THE STAGE FOR COLD TEMPERAUES OVERNIGHT.

CLEAR SKIES TONIGHT WILL ALLOW A PERFECT VIEW OF THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION OVER INDIANA TONIGHT.

A FROSTY AND COLD START SATURDAY MORNING WILL GIVE WAY TO SUNNY SKIES AND TEMPERARURES CLIMBING TO THE 50 DEGREE MARK.

As we expected, we were able to squeeze out some sunshine to start our Sunday, but clouds are becoming quick to follow.

Get used to the "R" word because we'll be saying it for the next several days. Despite the rain today we hit 61 degrees, and there's more of where that came from...both the 60's, and the rain.

THE HIGH OF 72 IN INDIANAPOLIS WAS THE WARMEST OF 2010 AND THE WARMEST SINCE EARLY NOVEMBER.  SEVERE STORMS IGNITE OVER ARKANSAS WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

Showers are just west of Indiana as of 6:00am this morning...We are expecting some showers to move in later this morning.  More scattered showers and a few thunderstorms also around for the afternoon under mostly cloudy skies.  Expect mild temperatures but not as warm as yesterday's high of 72-degrees.  A cool trend still in the forecast for the weekend with more rain, don't expect that to change...

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THURSDAY WILL DIMINSH ONLY TO MAKE WAY FOR ANOTHER ROUND FRIDAY.

A STUBBORN UPPER LOW WILL GENERATE MORE RAIN AND BRING IN COLDER AIR THIS WEEKEND.  LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN TARGETS PARTS OF THE AREA.

Get the green out and on as we're going to enjoy a great St.Patrick's Day!  More of that stable, sinking air will around today as more sunshine is expected this morning and throughout the entire day!  The St. Patrick's Day Parade begins at 11:30am, look for sunny skies and slightly cool temperatures in the downtown area, especially in the shade...here's a breakdown

'The rest of the day very pleasant with highs in the lower 60s...more warmth and sun will continue on through Friday with highs possibly reaching 70!  We'll worry about the weekend forecast in the coming days...until then enjoy the great weather!!!

Friday morning is starting off on a good note. Temperatures are warmer than they were yesterday at this time, and our high for the day will be warmer today than yesterday. 

SPRING OFFICIALLY ARRIVES SATURDAY BUT SO DOES A COLD FRONT.  TEMPS TUMBLE THIS WEEKEND AND RAIN WILL MOVE IN.

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS BLOG:

The storm we're tracking seems to be backing off a bit. Hinting at heavier, WIDESPREAD, amounts of rain arriving tomorrow evening. Areas will still see rain tomorrow, but there will also be dry time throughout the day, too. This has been a wacky start to March and the models are having a hard time nailing down this storm. With the rain taking it's time to get here, I think the falling temperatures will too. Early indications pointed to temps falling drastically throughout the day tomorrow. While I think they will still fall, it might take them a little longer, while holding onto mild air for a while longer, too.

This is a system that brought 70 degree temps and a winter storm to parts of Oklahoma all in one day. We'll continue to monitor the ever changing conditions and I'll bring you the latest tonight on Fox59 news at ten.

THE COLD RAIN IN CENTRAL INDIANA MONDAY WILL DIMINISH LATER TONIGHT.  SUNSHINE AND MILDER TEMPERATURES RETURN AS EARLY AS TOMORROW.

A FLIP OF A SWITCH AND WE GO FROM WINTER TO SPRING IN UNDER 24 HOURS

TEMPERARUES CLIMBED 7 DEGREES IN JUST TWO HOURS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON TOPPING OUT IN THE MID 60'S - THURSDAY WILL TURN WET AND COLDER.

Rain on the way this afternoon...nothing severe but it will be steadily falling during the afternoon and evening rush hour. Winds will be gusty too...expect temperatures cooler by 3:00pm hovering in the upper 40s, with gusts to 30 mph...BRRR!   Rainfall totals for the area should average between .25" to .75".  A couple of wet snowflakes could mix in tonight before all precipitation ends around midnight.  More sun for Friday and Saturday with a slow warming trend...And more rain likely on Sunday!

A LONG-RANGE OUTLOOK: 

The lastest long-range forecast (7-14 days) models are indicating a significant warm-up by late next week and heading into Easter weekend.  Highs could easily push into the 70s, with a chance of hitting 80 for the first time this year!  Stay tuned...

A COLD RAIN FALLS ACROSS CENTRAL INDIANA THURSDAY AFTERNOON.  TEMPERATURES HAVE TUMBLED INTO THE 40'S WITH WIND CHILLS IN THE 30'S.  EVEN COLDER AIR ARRIVES OVERNIGHT.

A bright but chilly sunrise is expected today as temperatures hover in the lower 30s, with wind chills in the lower 20s.  Expect a healthy dose of sunshine today as winds settle a bit throughout the afternoon!  Highs in central Indiana will range from the upper 40s and lower 50s.  More sun on Saturday with highs in the lower 60s.  Rain moves back in on Sunday with a possible thunderstorm and highs in the middle 50s...

LONG RANGE FORECAST

A massive warm-up is still on target for next week!  Starting from Wednesday through Saturday of next week, perhaps even longer temperatures will be well above average!  Latest model trends pushing at or near 80-degrees by Thursday or Friday of next week!  Can't wait!  

Sunday's weather will showcase soggy conditions as the rain that began late last night will continue throughout the day today.

THE WARMEST AIR OF 2010 ARRIVES THIS WEEK ON A BRISK SOUTHWEST WIND.  WITH POSSIBLE 80 DEGREE HIGH'S - RECORDS COULD FALL AS APRIL OPENS.

A warm-up begins today as winds begin to make their turn in from the southwest!  This coupled with sunshine should make for a very nice Tuesday...High today: 63-degrees in the city.  This will be one of many nice days in a row...only "minor" problem with the weather for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be the gusty winds over 35 mph!   Other than that let the warm-up begin and record heat build...

A SOUTH WIND WILL BRING A MILDER NIGHT AND THE WARMEST AIR OF 2010 WEDNESDAY.  EVEN WARMER AIR ARRIVES AS APRIL OPENS.

A new weather pattern is literally blowing into town over the next few days.  On gusty southwest winds, temperatures will climb steadily into the middle to upper 70s this afternoon...As more heat and wind arrives tomorrow, records could break for Thursday and Friday...Here's a look at the numbers!

Forecasted High Friday:  83  (Record High: 80 in 1967)

Next rain chance comes on Final Four Saturday with some storms possible.  Easter appears to be dry with breezy and slightly cooler conditions.
