Winter is unofficially over! At least Meteorological winter that is. The month's of December, January and February are considered the winter months and it was a cool one.
The final weeks of February sealed our fate as a cold winter. Since December the 1st - 58% of the days were below normal.
A POSITIVE OF THE COLD PATTERN
There were no tornadoes reported in the U.S. during the month of February. This is the first time since record keeping began in 1950.
Clouds are in the forecast for the next three days but some sun is possible Tuesday and Thursday. A cool pattern will continue as a storm system in the deep south pulls cooler air into the area Wednesday. The storm will depart late week and allow milder air to spread east in time for the weekend.
Some computer forecasts are very aggressive with the warm air, pushing high's here into the middle 50's. A possible scenario but extensive snow cover to our west could hamper that kind of a warm up. The forecast for milder air is a good one - another wild card could be clouds and light rain in the area Saturday evening. Stay tuned - the official forecast indicates temps near 50 Sunday with a cool down beginning on Tuesday.
