AT 2:59 PM THURSDAY THE HIGH TEMPERATURE REACHED 82 DEGREES IN INDIANAPOLIS BREAKING THE RECORD FOR THE DATE.  THE COMBINATION OF LOW HUMIDITY - GUSTY WINDS AND VERY WARM AIR HAS PROMPTED THE NWS TO ISSUE A FIRE WATCH FOR FRIDAY.

THE 82 DEGREE HIGH THURSDAY BROKE A 47 YEAR OLD RECORD AND TWO RECORDS COULD FALL ON FRIDAY.

The mostly sunny skies and record warmth of yesterday will continue today with highs in the lower to middle 80s.  The official record high for today is 80-degrees (1967), my forecasted high is 83-degrees.  The combination of gusty winds, warm temperatures, lower humidity and dry soil will create hazardous fire conditions later today.  Because of this, a red flag warning has been issued from noon until 8:00pm this evening.  Bottom-line: "Dont' Play With Fire Today" and don't throw you cigarette butts out the window!  That's just nasty anyways...Get your weekend forecast on FOX 59 right now!  We're on until 10:00am...

As expected, rain developed early this morning in our Western counties and spread eastward throughout the late morning hours.

The beginning of April has been exceptionally warm with daily temperatures averaging some 17-degrees above normal...Incredible numbers for so early in the season!  

Isolated storms in the overnight have ended but more will be on the way for late this afternoon and early evening. This could bring some rain to the city before tip-off tonight at Lucas Oil Stadium...be sure to check Guardian radar often if heading down to the game later today.  We are expecting another very warm day across the area with highs near 80!  Enjoy and get your updated forecast on FOX 59...we're on until 10:00am!

We started the work week with storms...saw some dry time today, and then had more storms develop this afternoon. Several watches and warnings were issued as a warm front pushed through the state.

Our first round of severe weather for 2010 rocked central Indiana yesterday!  Lightning, heavy rain and large hail struck mostly along and south of I-70, some hail stones the size of tennis balls. No severe weather for today but winds will be strong to gusty reaching 40 mph at times by the afternoon.   More sun and south winds will allow for another very warm day with highs in the middle 80s.  The forecasted high today is 84, the record is 82 (1929).

This morning marks the coldest start so far for April...under clearing skies and lighter winds expect some patchy frost at sunrise (7:17am), as temperatures hover around 34.  Sunshine is back today but the air will remain somewhat cool.  Highs today will range between 55-60 degrees!

More sunshine on Saturday and southwest winds will bring us back up into the upper 60s tomorrow.  Clouds begin to increase on Sunday with a small shower chance late in the day!  Highs for the weekend, not bad with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s...

Hello sunshine and warmer temperatures. After a chilly end to the work week, today will show case blue skies and temps near 70.

A cool blast of air greeted us this morning. We dipped down to 36 degrees but rebounded nicely today topping out at 71 degrees. That's 10 degrees above average...and we'll hold onto the above average temps for quite some time.

We saw a great start to the weekend and we'll see a great end to it, too. Temperatures will be near 70 under partly cloudy skies.

MONDAY MARKS THE 10th DAY THIS MONTH ABOVE NORMAL.  WARMER DAYS AHEAD THIS WEEK.

Unusual warmth continues today with highs pushing the lower 80s, nearly 20-degrees above average for this time of the year!  The average afternoon high for today is 62-degrees...simply incredible!  And keeping with this theme, our monthly average temperatures (per day) are now running 12.4 degrees above normal.  Cool changes and scattered showers still on target for Friday morning and into the afternoon...Get the rest of the weekend forecast on FOX 59 right now!

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for much of the state thru this evening. Warm temperatures combined with low humidites will increase the chance for some brush fires today.

THE STRETCH OF WARM WEATHER ENDED FRIDAY AFTERNOON AS A COLD FRONT PASSED THE CITY AROUND 2PM.  WINDY CONDITIONS ALONG WITH COLDER AIR MOVES IN FOR THE WEEKEND.

Sunshine continues today with highs in the lower to middle 60s...more great weather thanks to high pressure (dry, stable air).  This pattern will last over the next several days with limited shower chances.  Better chances of rain and storms will arrive for the upcoming weekend!  I'll keep you posted this week...In the meantime, have a great Monday afternoon!

THE COLD AIR IS BACKING OFF SLOWLY WITH TEMPERATURES RETURNING TO NORMAL MONDAY.  MILDER AIR COMING BUT RAIN IS ALSO IN THE CARDS.

There hasn't been a decent rain in the city and surrounding counties for nearly 2 weeks!  Things are a little dry but it has been pleasant.  We will enjoy more nice weather today but some rain we could use and rain we will get...just not right now!  It appears our best chances of rain arrive on Friday and will last off and on through Sunday!  Get more weather info on FOX 59 right now...

JET STREAM WINDS CONTINUE TO TRANSPORT MILD AIR INTO CENTRAL INDIANA.  THE FLOW ALOFT FROM THE NORTHWEST IS A DRY ONE - CHANGES ARE COMING.

A MINOR SYSTEM DIVES SOUTH FROM IOWA LATER TONIGHT BRINGING A SLIGHT CHANCE OF A SHOWER - A BIGGER STORM OUT WEST HEADING OUR WAY.

A small shower chance will continue today but most areas are going to stay dry!  Look for increasing sunshine today with highs around 70-degrees...overall a very nice day and remaining comfortable!  Look for rain chances to increase by Friday morning and then last throughout the entire weekend.  Storms could be heavy at times with lightning and healthy rainfall totals.  After nearly two weeks without any rain...its good to have it back!

And with it comes some rain.  Not the best timing but rainfall is in desperate need....its been over two weeks now without any decent rainfall.  Obviously, lack of rain in Spring can be a very bad thing!  In fact, for the year, we are currently running close to 4 inches below average.  So let's be positive about the rain we are receiving and we'll receive over the next few days!  And be thankful that most will come below the severe weather range...
