Bright sun to greet you at 7:41am this morning...should be another great day with loaded sun and less windy conditions.  Afternoon high:  72.   Friday night football should be great under partly cloudy skies and dry, cool conditions...Clouds gather by Saturday morning as spotty showers develop!   Look for sharply colder air for the entire weekend with our best chances of rain on Saturday afternoon.  Some frost will be likely by Sunday morning with a better possibility on Monday morning!  A true autumn chill is on the way...

Finally! Much needed rain rolled through the entire state today. Most of us saw some pretty decent downpours with totals ranging from half an inch to an inch.

The big cooldown is just a couple of degrees. 

Where did summer go? It seems as if the 90's were here one second and the next we're talking about frost in the forecast! October is typically known as a transitional month. However, many times October is also the gateway from a sauna to the freezer with no time to adjust.

Let's get this out of the way right off the top, we are officially in a drought across Indiana. 

A FROST ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL INDIANA.  CHILLY 30 DEGREE TEMPERATURES RETURN TONIGHT - BUT A BIG WARM UP IS COMING.

THE CHILLY AIR LINGERS FOR ONE MORE NIGHT BUT RETREATS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.  WARMER AIR WILL TAKE HOLD THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

All of the ingredients will come together this afternoon for an increased fire threat across the state. While that will be a big concern, overall weather conditions will be comfortable and beautiful!

CENTRAL INDIANA CONTINUED TO WARM UP FRIDAY AFTERNOON.  THE WARMEST AIR IN TWO WEEKS HAS ARRIVED.  NEAR RECORD WARMTH IS POSSIBLE.

A couple of records could fall over the weekend and I just just wanted to give you the heads up. 

Where did October go? It felt more like July and August across Central Indiana this afternoon. The record high for today was 84 degrees...and we smashed it! We hit 88 degrees in Indianapolis.

THE RECORD WARMTH CONTINUED MONDAY WITH A RECORD HIGH TIED AT 86 DEGREES.  THE STRETCH OF WARMTH WILL BE ENDING MID WEEK.

THE STRING OF 80 DEGREE WARMTH REACHED SIX DAYS TUESDAY BUT A COLD FRONT WILL BRING THE CHANCE OF RAIN AND A SHARP CHANGE TO END THE WORK WEEK.

A couple of morning storms have ended with more returning this afternoon...with sunshine right now available, decent frontal lift and some minor instability storms should be expected between late afternoon and early evening.  Gusty winds, small hail and heavy downpours are anticipated!  The evening rush could be wet as rain pushes through the state by midnight tonight!  Look for much cooler air on Thursday and Friday, followed by a gorgeous weekend!

THUNDERSTORMS DELIVERED WELCOMED RAINFALL TO CENTRAL INDIANA WEDNESDAY AFTENOON.  THE RAIN HAS ENDED AND COLDER AIR HAS RETURNED.

A steady breeze will continue this morning and for most the day!  This will create a cool but sunny afternoon with highs in the middle 60s...Wind gusts to 30mph will be likely!  Expect the winds to relax tonight as temperatures plummet in the overnight.  Patchy frost should form late tonight in sheltered areas (This will not be a hard freeze)!   A GREAT weekend still in store!  Enjoy and have a safe weekend...GO COLTS!

What a way to start the weekend! Plenty of sunshine can be expected today with highs in the upper 60's to mid 70's.

There's a lot going on today with the weather so wanted to take some extra time to talk about what exactly you can expect over the next 48 hours. 

70's to start the weekend and 70's to end it. Temperatures remained several degrees above average this weekend as there was plenty of sunshine to go around. This warm stretch will snap as we start the work week.

it seems it has been rainnig off and on for the entire afternoon and has continued well into the evening hours but overall rain totals are about where we thought they'd be at the beginning of the day. 

Dense fog advisory continues until 9:00am this morning...some spots have visibilities less than a 1/4 mile!  Sunrise around 8:00am should help to break up the fog issues...plenty of sun today should help to dry out the air and push our temperatures into the lower 60s.  Look for more sun on Wednesday with gusty, steady winds and warmer temperatures in the lower 70s!  Rain chances still holding for the upcoming weekend!

Do you remember the big snow of October?  On this morning, 21 years ago (1989) the snow had just ended!  And on the ground sat 9.3" of fresh October snow.  How fun was that!?!  No snow today, just sunshine and warmer temperatures.  Be advised:  windy conditions will take hold this afternoon and could get quite gusty!   Rain chances remain in the forecast for the weekend but at least it will be warm!

What a day! Plenty of sunshine can be expected throughout the day today as highs will top out near 70 degrees. The warmer, yet drier air, combined with breezy conditions is the perfect recipe for an increased fire threat.

Temperatures were a little cooler today with highs right around 60 degrees. While it was cooler, there was plenty of sunshine to boot. The winds will gradually calm down this evening, but until then you can expect chilly temps, breezy conditions, and an increase fire threat as a Red Flag Warning remains in effect until this evening.

What a morning! And, a very cold morning at that. Terre Haute, Shelbyville, and Bloomington all dipped to 27 degrees this morning...by far the coldest air we've seen in months! Indy hit 35, Lafayette 30, Muncie and Peru 31.

Live Guardian Radar will remain free of rain...for most of us today. A few early morning showers developed across the state and afternoon and evening showers will persist mainly North and West of the city.

We're going to flip the switch in the weather department. The dry stretch will finally come to an end as significant rainfall is expected in the coming days. Today will be no exception.

A BLOCKBUSTER AUTUMN STORM WILL COME TOGETHER OVERNIGHT.  POWERFUL WINDS AND POSSIBLE SEVERE STORMS WILL BLOW INTO CENTRAL INDIANA TUESDAY.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for parts of Southern Indiana...a High Wind Warning will remain in effect for the entire state through 8 this evening.

SEVERE STORMS HAVE DEPARTED INDIANA TUESDAY AFTERNOON BUT STRONG WINDS WILL DEVELOP THROUGHOUT THE DAY.  A WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT.

THE HISTORIC STORM SYSTEM OVER SOUTHERN CANADA TUESDAY NIGHT WILL PULL THE COLDEST AIR OF THE SEASON INTO CENTRAL INDIANA THIS WEEK.

GUSTY WINDS LINGER AS THE COLDEST AIR OF THE SEASON SETTLES IN.

THE COLDEST NIGHT OF THE SEASON ARRIVES IN INDIANAPOLIS OVERNIGHT.  WARMER AIR WILL RETURN THIS WEEKEND.

Sunshine is back and winds are slacking...all good news for your Friday!  Expect mostly sunny skies Saturday with breezy southwest winds and milder temperatures.  A few clouds are expected on Sunday but still plenty of sunshine and dry conditions for your Halloween gatherings.  Next week looks pretty quiet in terms of rainfall...only small chances but nothing remotely close to the severe weather of last week!  Have a great and safe Halloween!
